I hope 2000usd to 2300usd as the exchange rate of the USD is bashing againt the MXN, north 2500usd is to close to the D810 price and is gonna be hard to atract new FF buyers, Nikon or Canon users wont be atracted regardless the specs of the Pentax camera at that price range, that said, the maximun amount that im willing to spend is near 2000usd above that i am not going to be an early adopter.

I guess it's in the middle between the D810 (over 3.000€) and the D750 (under 2.000€). But I wouldn't be surprised if Ricoh would want something like 3.500€. Then they would go for the higher end dirctly next to the Z users.

Well above $3000. Probably close to $4500. It will come down to earth fairly soon after intro but for early adopters it will be expensive.

If they price it that high, even at launch, I doubt they'll sell many. It just won't be able to compete. And it has to compete.

it doesn't have to compete with anything. It only has to sell the number of units they plan to sell at whatever price they choose to sell them - which will be profitable if they do. It doesn't need to be a D810 to be a successful camera, and it won't be upgraded in 18 months. That fact argues for an aggressive but constant price for a long time, then gradual deals and pricing cuts.

That being said, if history is a guide, it will probably list below $2,900 and street a couple hundred lower than list.

At that price range just a few will adopt the pentax FF system, and there will be even another reason for the rest to move to Canikons/Sony systems... Introduction price needs to be a very very smart move for Pentax if they want to get a market share.. not only thinking about selling the cameras. but also selling the lenses. In February/March when the 150-450 came out it was at around $2500.. NOW it is at $1700 ( some even at $1600 ), this poins how Pentax prices cant be that high in order to pentaxias buy the products.. AT LEAST not so fast.. they need to rebuild the users base, then.. go fancy.

I think if they release an excellent camera at a great price & build some strength within a core user base, they'll position themselves well to maintain a profitable imaging division.

I don't think a "me too" FF will work in the long run for Pentax. It needs to be Pentax. Not SoCaNikon.

No. They'd be taking food out of their own mouths, so to speak, doing that.

It will have to be under $2500 US without a doubt. They have to compete against the market and reel Pentax and other users in. Digital cameras are so similar these days and even with new specs they need to keep that price competitive regardless.

I some how expect it above 3000 $€. I don't think they can sell to many of them and Especially not to people from outside the brand. I guess for those the camera should be priced below 2000 $€ since there are many offerings below the top priced models.

Looked at it and above 3000 is a select number of models used by either professional photographers that work fulltime or some older amateurs that are member of some photography club.

price range fullframe camera's

You can have a fullframe for 999€ wich is the same price as for K-3ii.

Maybe, but 3000 is on price range of the D810, it must be below that if the specs are similar to the Nikon.

I think 2599.

Sony A7 has been around for years. Costs 800. Does all.
Samsung Nx500 does 4k. Nice kit lens included. Costs 500.
Panasonic fz1000 does 4k, features Leica lens and all you would need. And more. Costs 600.
Sigma Dp2m has all the IQ and costs 400.
Fuji Xt10 has the looks and the mojo and costs 750.

Given the situation easy to foresee the complete and utter success the K1 is going to be in 2016 priced at $2000!

IMO in order to sell a lot of the product and grow their FF market share "fast" the $2000 is the perfect price.. For example the K3ii have the sensor shift technology, GPS, astrotracer.. the new K1 will have that too + articulated screen and ofcourse.. the sensor.. we dont know what the sensor is going to be but if they bring a 36mp sensor to a really attractive price this will help a lot for the camera to catch some market share. IMO Ricoh's strategy is clear, they are giving great bodies at really good prices ( K3: $630, K3ii: $730, KS2: $495 ). To place the K1 at $3000+ price is totally insane ( not because is not worth it but because Pentax actual situation againt Sony/Canikon ).

But ofcourse i could be wrong... i wouldnt expect nothing more than $2400.. and in case that it happens, price will drop fast ( same as happend with the 150-450 that came from $2500 to $1600 in a few months ).

Wow, you managed to include 1 (one) "full frame" camera, and of course not a current model.
