If that FF is for customer or hobbits, if should affordable.

However, they already mentioned that this FF is for professional. You can't expect affordable price which might be around $2000~3000
In a hole in the ground there lived a Pentaxian...

Our poor photography student "semi-pro" thinks that $2000 for a FF camera is not affordable.

Lets be clear, these are not problems for Pentax, these are problems for you.

If they were making this camera for me, and many on the others, it would be a bare bones K1000 type of camera with no advanced features. Since I plan to use it mainly for landscape, I'd be happy using it with lenses with DoF scales and no AF, since most landscape is hyperfocal.

So, while I appreciate your post... it's all about you. Many don't use flash, get good images with manual focus lenses.

And right now no one has any idea what it is,

Maybe for you it's not good. We get it. For me right now it's perfect.
For me, I hope they don't include a bunch of features I can't afford and won't use. After all, if I could afford a full frame fast focusing great flash system, I would have bought it. I think Pentax needs to put out something that will appeal to those who've used their dollars to support the company all these years, if they want to put out a pro camera as well, I've no issue with that. But if it's one or the other, I think something for the average Pentax shooter should come first.

After all, we are the people who appreciate what Pentax has been, why should they dump us for guys like you?
Well said! I very much agree.
I am just an amateur who "loves" Pentax cameras for their elegance,(yes, even "sexiness"), compactness, optical and mechanical quality, and value for money. I don't yet own a digital SLR and when I buy one I would like a full frame so that my Pentax-M manual lenses would all marry harmoniously with it. I don't even want another lens!

OP, based on your post history you've ascended the ranks to semi-pro really quickly! Maybe you can give lessons to others so that they can improve their skills like you have.
sunshine7913 has the opportunity to show us what "semi pro" is. Obviously some enlightenment is required from the semi pro to the poor fellas here.

His sample pictures will shed light on this.

From the metadata and further comments the OP will then also explain what expensive equipment he uses. Based on the uttered requirements it's going to be top notch most recent stuff. Remember that even 0,15 stops difference in flash sync between Nikon D750 and Pentax K-30 are a major concern to him. That's raising the bar quite a bit.
We will not see boring noname wedding pictures or simple fashion shots.
sunshine7913 will need to show us real WOW pictures. Not somethings average, which would just suck

Would pictures of hobbits from our "semi-pro" suffice?

I think it would need to be as good as or better than the Nikon D750 or it will seriously disappoint most who wait here for the new FF

This is quite an amusing thread.
I am a pro i suppose, my cameras help earn me money, I do charge (most the time) for what I do.
My photos can be readily seen here
Are they "pro" quality? Who knows, I think they are ok, and my customers seem happy.

I use a K7 and K5, both of which I considered to be pretty good cameras, well made, solid, functional, with some problems of course. But who does not have problems ?

Personally I can't see the K-1 being a disappointment (except perhaps that I will most likely be able to afford one thanks to our terrible exchange rate)
Pentax make honest cameras. If it says it will shoot 8 frames per second, that's what it does, not with some proviso of "only with the optional grip" or some other excuse.

I do hope they don't have mirror flop issues, and I do hope they have given the AF a boost (the K5 I use is terrible, especially once light levels start to drop, I would love to try a K3)

Will it be a camera that can earn you money / be a pleasure to use / look cool ?
Well if the K7 & K5 can, why on earth not.

I'm excited, even if I can't get one just yet

It is a given that Pentax has traditionally offered a narrower range of dSLR camera bodies, lenses, and accessories relative to the other big boys. However, what it has to offer generally comes with respectable specs relative to the price and would be more than sufficient for the needs of what we call "prosumers". Sure its current cropped sensor dSLRs lag behind the competition in some but not all features. But unless one is a bona fide specialist --- sports or wildlife or wedding photographer who requires 90 cross-hair focus points, faster flash synchronization shutter speed, and crazy fast super telephotos --- those features may not really make a lot of difference in the field for the average Pentaxian. Unless of course you have a mindset like the OP's.

My point is Pentax is out there to serve a very specific segment of the market: photographers looking for a camera with respectable specs, robust build, excellent ergonomics, and competitive price. This is not to say that professionals (people who make a living out of taking pictures) cannot and do not use Pentax. Hence, it is illogical to expect Pentax to serve a species of dSLR photographers that were never in its business radar to begin with. It needs to strategically think of where the bulk of the money is to be made. That should temper then our expectations of what the K1 will offer. I wish I am wrong but my prediction is the K1 will not be a Canon or Nikon killer. Yet it will surely be a delightful camera.

This just might be the best comment on this entire thread. Maybe on a lot of threads.

And honestly , that's all I ask. A good , solid, well, made, reliable, camera with good specs and good IQ that fits in my hand well and meets my budget. An honest camera.

So let's hope this is not going to change anytime soon. I certainly will buy a K-1 if it keeps this heading (instead of attempting to be a EOS 1D clone).

AF: K-3ii is enough? Look at Nikon cameras.

Flash: They still have 1/180 while others have 1/250 and canon and nikon have best flash system

Lenses: Choices are small

Slow updates: How many lenses do they released annually?

UI: Where's the joystick?
AF is fine unless you are doing high speed sports shooting.

1/180 has never held me back at all actually with studio strobes I am usually shooting at 1/125 choose right tool for job I never see the 1/180 ever affecting what I shoot

What focal length is missing other than a few fast long lens a whole lot of Canikon are repeat focal length

Not that many lens released by Canikon either

Need a Joystick get a Nikon or buy you a Pac-Man game

I'm of the mind now, that pentax are going to deliver a nice FF Camera around D7200 price and size.

Life will be good and we can all be friends again!

It is a beast and most likely you can afford it even with the exchange rate. Stay tuned.
