It might be too much to ask of a weather-resistant body, that the sensor could be liquid-cooled to get longer exposures, mightn't it?
Taking into account Sony A7RII overheating issues (and Nikon D5 4K video 3 minutes limit?) it could be one day there will be liquid-cooled cameras....

That's to be expected.
It also goes without saying that there will be the small clutch of regulars within that group who will continue to stand on their soapboxes and pontificate on why anyone who is happy shouldn't be.

There is happiness and then there is happiness. Yes, I have a shopping list of things I hope Pentax have put into this camera... but at the end of the day, if what I get takes all my lenses and flashes as well as my K-5 does, and delivers eye-popping, jaw-dropping HQ Jpegs to my SD cards, I will be well content. In fact, give me the equivalent of a K-5 with a full-frame sensor and suitable crop functions for DA-only lenses and I would STILL be well content.

And yes, when this thing comes out I think we ARE going to break records for most users online. I hope Adam has the bandwidth to handle it...

Yep, we all do.
I'm referring to the difference between "Pentax didn't give me what I wanted" and "Pentax didn't design it to my specifications, so it's junk. I'm leaving and you should too."

We've just seen it so many times before. The K-1 is a failure because: (a) it has too few megapixels. " Nothing less than 42 megapixels is adequate. We Pentaxians need the best!" or (b) it has too many megapixels. "I will not buy a camera that has more than 24 megapixels!" Or maybe, (a) It would have been a better camera if Pentax had left video off. "We Pentaxians are conservative types who have no use for video. Pentax could have left it off and saved each one of us 7 dollars off the sticker price." or (b) It doesn't have 4K video with 60 fps. "I won't buy a camera that doesn't have cutting edge video. Pentax is so behind the times when it comes to technology." And the same conversation can be repeated for any other thing you want to mention (built in flash, GPS, pixel shift technology, etc).

In the end, I just hope Pentax releases a camera that works well, doesn't crash, has decent resolution, and mounts k mount lenses without an adapter. I have a feeling I will be happy...

I'm going to save this and quote it when the camera comes out, abridged to my own personal tastes. It's not copy righted is it? Now there's an idea, copy right those phrases and ask people for money if they use them.

Totally agree - it's not possible to meet all requirements in one camera - nothing to do with money, nothing to do with the ability of Ricoh engineers - just physics and different requirements of different users - Nikon D5 is not as good for landscapes as the D810s - but that doesn't make it a bad camera, it makes it a camera made for a particular market. Pentax don't do that - they make generalist cameras not specialist tools, and make them very well - but all design is compromise - you can't have it all

Well, thanks to all the efforts from forum members who have been talking to a guy who knows someone in Romania who knows some important people, we already know that:

The K1 is yet unnamed. It will be a lightweight, heavy, large body with a very small form factor. It will be a 36 MP camera with a Pentax proprietary Sony 42 MP sensor. There will be buttons. A lot of too few old newly designed FF lenses will be released together with the body much later.

What more is there to say?

Understood, but I'm sort of more getting at the difference between "Pentax didn't give me what I wanted so they are doomed" and "Pentax didn't give me exactly what I'd hoped for, but I still have the best damn full-frame camera I could ever hope to buy."

I think I was drunk when I passed out that piece of information... I don't actually remember much of it. And the "important people" is my neighbor's cat. Sorry!

You are way too generous.
It remains to be seen if this is an act that will bring you good karma or bad.
