Manual focus apps

Will the K1 get a new capability to focus in manual mode?
I dream to use my M42 lenses with the new FF but i don't read anything about that.

Manual focus will be supported as it always has been with current camera bodies.All M42 lenses should work fine on the K-1 - I don't think I have ever heard of an exclusively designed for APS-C M42 lens.

clackers is correct. yes it will work, whether is is accurate or not is the question generally with lenses of f/2.8 it will be fine, anything faster than that: like an f/1.2 lens, is hopeless.

My mind has been wandering and leading me to some strange places. I want a spit prism and micro prism focusing screen. I mourn the loss of KatzEye, but surely the Chinese guys will at least make a generic one.

Vintage glass is cool and all, but I'm looking at today's Samyang lenses. I'm also thinking about that crop mode. . . If you counted the crop mode, then each lens would have two distinct fields of view that you can switch between. We don't know the sensor specs yet, but it's possible even the crop mode could output a 15 MP image, which could be Just Fine for many purposes. So let's do some figuring:

Samyang 14mm f/2.8 becomes 21mm equivalent FoV
Samyang 35mm f/1.4 becomes 52mm equivalent FoV
Samyang 135mm f/2.0 becomes 202mm equivalent FoV

That's a pretty good spread to cover in only three prime lenses.

Is this hopeless? f/1.4 with radio-Takumar. Focal point is the knurls on the rim of the lens.

Nice. I have had mixed results in the past with fast lenses. My A* 85 f1.4 that I used to own for example was a great lens with good focus confirmation results sometimes, but not always.

It would seem odd that Pentax's system can't cope with f/1.4, seeing as both legacy (F or FA) and digital AF glass both exist with this focal length. Whether f/1.2 is just a bridge too far, I can't say, as there is no KNOWN f/1.2 Pentax AF lens currently in existence.

I'm not an engineer or electronics whizz by any stretch of any imagination, but would it be that difficult for the focusing mechanism to be linked to the daipragm, and to stop ultr-fast menses down to f2.8 during focusing? - just interested - have no knowledge of practicalities.

Keep in mind that the viewfinder should also be appreciably brighter, which should make manual focusing easier. Looking through old film camera viewfinders is like watching an imax, compared to aps-c digital.

I'll have to whip out the 55mm f/1.2 Rikenon and play around with it tonight. That lens does not get anywhere near enough love.
