In the article the "the wheel on the opposite side of the viewfinder" function is explained and it is said that is OK but the chosen function setting is visible only in the bottom left corner of the Live View mode screen. And this is considered not functional. The author would prefer larger the auxiliary LCD screen instead, with more information being displayed on it.
In the comments someone said that the wheel is most probably going to be set to one position most of the time, say ISO or +/-. The rest is considered a bonus. In case someone would want to switch the crop mode or WiFi then this wheel would be a shortcut so one does not have to dig into menus if they want to change such a setting once in a blue moon.
