Hahahaaa Sweet

If I get one of these I will have no need for sand bags to anchor my tripod from the center column.

I can just hang my k-1 while my k-3 is sitting on the tripod. Landscape here i come.

Gaaahh.... I'm sure it's capable of withstanding that kind of abuse, but when I see it happening I get a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach...

I think a lot of Pentaxians used to dismiss swivel screens on the basis that "it will break". This shows that the fear is unfounded with the K-1 technology

My Hasselblad HV (Sony A99V inside) is built like a tank, but there's no way I would expect the articulated screen to stay attached if I tried that!! Kudos to Ricoh...

found this video yesterday and was amazed.
to me (not only on pentax) a articulating screen has to be the most fragile part of a complex technical construction as a camera. but as Na Horuk stated, this fear has no foundation with the K1.
Does someone have the shot of the mounted 560?

This is the only thing I like at that screen. Because from a user point of view, the traditional solution, like in K-S2, is much better.

That screen looks super awesome sweet. Serious for macro, for the weird angles I need, couldn't think of something better and more reassuring that seeing people swing it all about from the tilty screen.

Someone at DPReview suggested that such tests are encouraged by Ricoh. This would explain why there are at least 3 such tests (and who knows how many more I haven't seen).
I'm a bit concerned about the lens mount (is it still fixed in polycarbonate, or metal?), but those are preproduction models, i.e. not for sale.

Well... it's a matter of preference and workflow. For you a side-articulated LCD might be better, even significantly so. But me, I'd mostly want to tilt the screen up/down for brief periods, and such a maneuver is unnecessarily complex with a side-articulated LCD - yet very easy with this system (or the 645Z's).

Spot on. I could totally use it for Macro shots and I instantly thought this picture which left me several scratches on my face let alone a torn jacket. That low angle macros shot should now be a whole lot easier.

Imagine sitting in a fold chair, comfortably, controlling the camera from your smartphone/tablet...

Slightly off topic (about using rather than abusing our new favorite tilty screen) but has there been any discussion about the visibility? I am wondering how it's going to fair when it's out and being used in daylight... I am guessing that at least it will be the same as what we have now with K3 (which can be difficult to see in some cases), but hoping maybe they did something to improve it...

It's using an air gapless design which appears to be similar to the K-3's. The one improvement I'm aware of is quick access to the "Outdoor visibility" setting - i.e. quickly setting the brightness according to the outdoor conditions.
