The Pentax DFA 28-105 declasses Nikon and Canons similar offerings

First I was only suprised to see the MTF charts of the new DFA looking good.
Then when comparing them to the current Canon 24-105 lenses it looked even better, essentially outperforming them.
Take a look yourself at the MTFs.

But that is only theory, so it needs to be checked using actual pictures.

Nikon:
So here is a ISO 200 F5.6 picture (imagine the degree of sharpening applied here to save the picture from total softness) of the Nikon 24-120 kit lens to compare: https://www.flickr.com/photos/97447174@N04/12415070774/sizes/o/ (poor corners)
Here is one more Nikon with soft corners and edges even at F8: https://www.flickr.com/photos/100641426@N04/14376812009/sizes/o/
Color fringing madness: https://www.flickr.com/photos/126387360@N08/16444764803/sizes/o/

Canon:
Here is the Canon: https://www.flickr.com/photos/53622946@N07/8724055680/sizes/o/
Boy that sucks.

That's what I've been hinting to people. Look at the MTF's. The 28-105 looks a champ.

Doesn't tell me very much. I am sure it is a good lens but everybody can make crappy images even with good lenses. They would need to be compared under controlled conditions.

Still an ugly lens, which happens to be a Tamron rebadge...

Will Pentax ever manufacture it's own lenses in the future that look nicer?

Is this another Tamron re-work job? I thought this was Pentax's own work. The 15-30 and 24-70 are but is this one as well? Not finding an exact Tamron version of this on the market today but I maybe didn't look in the right places.

It is a Pentax lens. Not a re badge. People are just saying that without checking their facts.

This "issue" puzzles me.
Is it not a black or grey cylinder? What more do you want in how a lens looks? If it's not attention-grabbing garish then so what?
