Widest full frame lens that can support filters?

Hello Pentaxians,

that's it! I have ordered my K-1 and am pretty excited. As a landscape photographer mostly (check my Website Landscape and Travel Photography by Cyril Deretz ARPS, you will find that this is my main focus), I use wide angle lenses a lot generally with filters (multistop, pola, grad). I currently have the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 but it doesn't have any filter thread. The widest I will be able to go with a filter will be 24mm with my Sigma 24-70.

I have been looking at the Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 Distagon, but they have discontinued the Pentax mount version and it is nowhere to be found on the secondary market.

Any suggestion of a sharp lens (that could accommodate the 36mp of the K-1) I should invest in?

Thank you for your help!

FA20/2.8 takes 67mm filters.
FA20-35/4 takes 58mm filters.

Here's an ordered list of (genuine) wide-angle FF lenses with filter threads:

<= 30mm Full Frame Pentax K Lenses | PentaxForums.com

The FA 20mm might be your best bet, though the older K 18mm is technically the widest lens to fit your criteria.

The filter system exists for the Samyang 14/2.8.
The only thing are cost, size, handling.

There is an old Tamron 17-35 that works.
Its performance typically rivals that of the Canon 17-40L.
The latter is not known for tip top edges at 17mm, but it was the 'pro' lens on Canon FF for a long time.

Thanks Adam. Always the quickest! That is very useful. I also read recently about the Laowa 15mm f/4. But the absence of aperture control from the camera bothers me a bit (I don't mind manual focus with my typical use)

Thanks. I'll definitely have a look at this Tamron lens

The Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5.5-6 takes filters - albeit, they are the rear mounted gel kind.

I went for the Tamron. Found a second hand one that seems of good quality on eBay. Thanks again

Even if the lens does not support a threaded filter you can always add a mounted filter in front of the lens.
You just need a Filter Holder and then a filter.

The 19-35mm Tokina AF lens I used to own took a 77mm filter.

Nice sharp lens. Sold it about a year ago.

Yes I know, but these are very large and chunky filter holder and the price for these filters is absolutely mad (the polariser in particular) as they are very big

The LEE SW150 Mark II Filter System especially designed for a range of popular ultra-wideangle lenses.

I hope for my 12-24 using at 18mm full frame... if that works you can use a 77mm screw filter.
The DA 12-24 has a f4 (based on 51 Reviews a 8.20, sucks at bokeh but... do you want bokeh in wide-angle )

After searching for my own Rokinon 14mm f2.8 I have found 3 square filter holders for it as well..

Haida, Lee and NiSi all make holders that will fit the Samyang/Rokinon 14mm f2.8 but the 150mmx150mm (some take 160mmx160mm) are very expensive when you look for a Big stopper/ 10 stop filter.

I would grab this lens in a heartbeat for the K-1, and just may if I choose to drop my D800 and head back to beloved Pentax gear.

I am hoping for this to work too. Would like to get the 15-30 but not keen on having to buy a whole new giant filter system to deal with that giant rounded lens. The 12-24 is an underrated lens IMO. Not the sharpest at the edges and some variance between copies (I've had 2, the 2nd was noticeably less sharp in the left corners) and not very sharp at f4 but decent enough at f8-11. What I like about this lens is that it is very tolerant of bright light, only an 8 point star but can get some pretty great sunstars with it. My Sigma 18-35 1.8 Art is way sharper (when focused properly ) but shooting in to direct sun makes a complete mess.
