28-135mm with refined formula for digital
28-300 from tamron

3rd party support from Tamron would be nice.
at least the 150-600 (some Pentaxians would die for that reach.)

AF-drive has to speed up (double plm)

An updated version of the very fine FA 35mm f/2 having a quiet DC AF and WR would be nice. The DFA 15-30mm f/2.8 is a very fine lens, but it is large, heavy, and expensive. A lighter model of say 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 DC WR would be a good idea, maybe even using the old FA 20-35mm optics.

The current Pentax roadmap includes the D FA* 35mm 1.4 DC AW for 2017 or later.

The D-FA*35 and the FA35 don't seem to share the same goals or weight/cost/size goals at all.

FA35/2 was referred to as the poor man's FA31 Limited. D FA35/2 could fill a similar sleeve versus D FA*35/1.4

Before going any further I'd urge members to read this . . .

The Problem with Modern Optics ? YANNICK KHONG

This supports the notion that, rather than going to all the trouble and expense of designing new lenses for the K-1, Pentax should revisit old designs since discontinued from the manufacturing line, not least because new glass for digital seems not all that it's cracked up to be. Certainly this has been my experience with the expensive Sony Zeiss primes, which also suffer dreadful QC (I mean really bad, like I want to cry bad).

So which lens designs should Pentax revisit? The FA's, the A*'s the FA*'s? Which ones?

How could Pentax improve these lenses for digital (i.e., ELD elements, lens coatings etc), getting rid of the purple stuff (CA/LoCA) without affecting their character?

What other qualities should the updated versions have (i.e., weather sealing, focus limiters, in-lens stabilisation for the long glass . . . )?

Could some of them be corrected to be genuine apochromatic lenses? Like those £5000 Leica 50/2's and the rather lovely Zeiss 135/2.

Love to hear members thoughts on this. I have no clue as to coatings and the effects of special elements, combinations of elements and really technical lens stuff. Interested to learn.
At this point I'd settle for just about anything.

Pretty annoyed that they are putting out silly "silver edition" K1s but haven't released any new full frame lenses...

Why? First it is not silly, the silver edition always sells quickly, and it is traditional to release the silver edition at some point in a camera's life cycle. And I really doubt the silver edition camera team has anything to do with lenses so not really an issue.

What lenses do you need anyway? They have 15 to 450mm covered.....................

Everyone knows that they make the lens design team spray the silver paint as part of an ill conceived motivation effort.

I need fast modern primes. The old limiteds are cool and all, but they just don't hold up to modern glass.

Ah, well in that case stay tuned. Until perhaps 2019 or 2020. Though perhaps we will get the 50mm before that. Personally I do not see the point of these big expensive lenses. Just curious but what are you shooting that a good f/2.8 zoom will not cover?
