The game is to convince you you to spend more more money on something you may or may not really need. Many of my favorite lenses are just not up to snuff on FF. I'm sure the new Pentax FF is spectacular and worth the investment for many, but it could very well turn out to be just another money-pit lenswise. I have a wife who needs things so I'm not going there.

PS. The K series 55mm f1.8 you sold me is still my absolute favorite. You said I would like it and boy, you were right!

We Happy Few

He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Sainted K-1 day.'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on K-1's day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Adam the King, LaurenOE, jimr-pdx, Monochrome.
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And K-1 K-1 shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Sainted K-1's day.

What is happening to me?!?
Easy answer: the K-1 happened, to me and to all camera owners.
I don't own a single thing with Pentax on it.
Within the next month, that will all change.
The K-1 happened to me!

Great write-up.

Shakespeare is rolling violently in his grave on this one, but nice parody!

Why did you go from K-5IIs to a K-50? That seems like a downgrade in everything but weight and focus peaking.

The K-1 will be heavier than a K-5IIs (a little over 30% heavier) so definitely give the K-1 a test run before purchasing if weight was the reason..

We've been beset with health-care bills for several years, so my ride has been a bizarre roller coaster of acquisition/bills/dump//repeat. Since I wrote my original post my wife was in the hospital w/double pneumonia for 3 days, I broke a tooth then fell to a similar virus, got a new crown, and now my wife's dental bills are coming up. Oh yeah we owe the IRS a bit too Just before all that we'd refinanced the heck out of our home, and bills were just getting cleaned up.

The 'good' news is my 59½ birthday is coming up, the IRA can clean up our debts. A lousy use for it but we have some padding there.
More will need to happen (more good stuff not what's been going on!) for any K-1 to appear though.

edit - as for weight, it will be a bit of an issue. I won't be adding any f/2.8 zooms, but elderprimes would be a fine match.
