DA* 16-50/2.8 usable at 24mm on the K-1?

I have this lens but miss a 24mm FF lens after I accidentally tried to repair my A 24/2.8 while drunk.
So I wonder if the DA* will do.

No, it won't.
Through its entire focal range the image circle doesn't come close to covering the full frame, at either close or infinity focus.
And yes, I just checked with my DA*16-50 on my K-1.

Why don't you get drunk again - only this time go shopping online and buy a replacement lens

Too bad!
Samyang 24mm, maybe?
A lot of users are really missing 24mm and 28mm primes. Its terrible that that whole range is missing from the lineup, and its not really covered by third parties

Keep me posted. I might be interested (the 24mm).

However, the thing is that the D-FA 150-450 is first on the list. Buying that lens + a K1 and a 24mm lens will break the budget.
I plan to sell my 600/4 to finance all the the stuff, but it needs to go to service first to tighten some screws; I'm not doing that myself

The small ball on the lens mount did not pop out when the lens is turned to the "A" setting. I found out that the minimum service cost was almost the value of the lens on the used marked.
After a sixpack of beer I figured out I could do this simple operation myself. The spring loaded ball is incredibly tiny, and also close to inpossible to fit into place with the spring without incredibly steady hands. Worse was the fact that a metal part (brass?) of the lens fell on the floot (I presume). I cannot find it. I have hoovered the carpet and plan to examine the the content of the bag (at a later date) to see if I can find it there. Nice to have all the parts of the lens at least....

Just use it at 16mm in crop mode till you can find a suitable replacement.

There are still copies of the Pentax F 28mm f/2.8 and FA 28mm f/2.8 available used. I don't know about the latter, but the former is a wonderful lens. I had one before my FA 31mm LTD. If I could justify having both, I'd snap one up in a quick moment.
