Got my first Pentax full frame!

I found a bunch of film in my freezer: a roll of provia, two rolls of fuji natura 1600, and bunch of cheaper film. I figured for $10 it is worth buying a film Pentax.

I have a tough shot with a wide angle and a sun in about 1/3rd of the frame that I would like to try with DA15 and film. I will have to crop it, but I am hoping that less reflections from film, compared to the sensor, will result in a better flare control. That will be for provia. I am not sure what to do with the ISO 1600 films.

Bright sun and 1600ASA is not a good combination unless you have high shutter speeds and tight apertures. And even then, you might want to think about a neutral density filter...

The provia is ISO 100 and that's what I will use for the landscape. I haven't found a use for the fuji natura 1600 yet. It's supposed to be a very finely grained film given the speed and people used it for events or night street photos. I don't really do those.

Well, if you are already experimenting and pushing yourself.. might as well start

Edit: Maybe you can try 15mm astrophotography with ISO 1600 film? I think there was a blog post or something about film astrophotography somewhere. Or just night city photos

Sorry, OP: what I meant was that whatever you do with the low-speed film, it wouldn't be wise to repeat that with the 1600!

Why not?

By my reckoning, Fuji Natura 1600 - and Fuji Superia 1600, can handle +5 overexposure (equivalent to ISO 50) quite comfortably and with plenty of room to spare. . .

Thanks! That's good to know. One reason why I decided to give film a shot is the way it treats sun within the frame, with a smoother roll off to highlights. I took some photos of this scene today with the Fuji Natura and we will see how it fared... in a few weeks.
