Monitor Protector Glass for K-1

Hello All:

As the K-1 is so new, the market has not caught up to it yet with some accessories. Like a glass monitor protector (see this link for the concept-
http://www.amazon.com/Vello-Screen-Protector-Ultra-Camera/dp/B00BYQ5162/ref=...itor+protector

Does anyone have a suggestion for this? The display area for the K-1 is about 2.75in (70mm) x 1.9 inches (50mm) Full coverage is 77mm x 60mm.

Best regards,

BD

Have you checked the dimensions of the 645z screen and available protectors? They're both 3.2" LCDs, so maybe they're roughly the same dimensions?

I have always used this company they are in Germany but are very quick with their postage even to here in Australia and have always supported Pentax products .
Screen Protectors for Pentax K-1 | protectionfilms24.com
They had released their K1 screen protectors even before the K1 was released.

Ah, that's who I've used for years for my K5, K3, K3II, Q, Q7 and other cameras. I love their protection films... good quality, easy to fit

Worth a try. They're in Germany, and they certainly ship to the UK, so I don't see why they wouldn't ship elsewhere...

They ship to me in Australia, so I think the US wouldn't be a problem.

I picked up one of these from a camera store the other day: Glanz Screen Protector Universal

Being universal means I need to break out the good scissors to cut it it size so it's not as convenient as buying a pre-made one but it's not expensive.

Try also the K3 Screen it is also 3.2''. ACMAXX may do a suitable Hard Screen Protector. Best compare LCD Screens and surounds first just in case there are subtle design differences. Another forum member who is lucky enough to have both cameras may be able to assist you here.

Unfortunately the K-1 screen is higher than the K-3 screen so they won't fit. I tried.

Is the German producer product a real thin glass or a flexible film thing (foil)? How is the sight onto the "monitor" when attached?
I hate it when you have a worse quality on the monitor preview and menu if it is protected through a screen protector. thanks for adivce.

It's a thin foil - not an ultra-thin film (like the cheapest protectors), but a thin, clear, non-sticky, bendy foil. It applies very easily without leaving bubbles (so long as you use a blower to get rid of any dust on the screen first), and doesn't affect the quality of of the LCD view. It tends to get greasy and/or pick up finger marks more than the bare LCD, but is easily wiped clean with a cloth or tissue. I've used these on my cameras for years, and I love them.

Which one? They list 7 different screen protectors by 3 different manufacturers.
