I was spotting aircraft and was spotted by the local news paper

This weekend I was at the Mid Sweden Air Show. It was a great opportunity to test the K-1 with the FA* 400. I got no experience in this type of photography but ever since I was a little boy I've been into military aircraft in general and SAAB aircraft i particular. SAAB has always been in the forefront when it comes to producing military fighter jets.

This was a great opportunity to test the K-1 in AF-C and the last photo shoot with my FA* 400 before I sell it. As I already knew 400 mm is to much focal length for my type of photography even now when I shoot full frame. I think I got some decent shots of a J 29 "Flying barrel", JAS 39 "Griffin" and a P51D but I need to learn more about this type of photography before next show.

As you can see below I was spotted with my K-1 and FA* 400 by a professional photographer working for the local news paper.

Did they print the picture on the newspaper? This is exactly the kind of publicity Pentax needs to increase awareness and credibility.

This is a beautiful portrait of you. Nice image. Have you uploaded any of your pics somewhere we can see them? I'm interested in aviation phtography and it would be nice or just post some samples of those beautiful Saabs in here!

Cool Pentax sighting in the wild.

Is the J29 a flying example? IIRC they were an F-86 contemporary.

I'm not sure they did print it but a a lot of people I know recognized me in the picture (got a lot of text messages about it) though I got my face covered with the K-1

One J29 is flying since 1995. More info here (Swedish) >

YYRC, the J29, F-86 and MIG 15 served in the same era

Yep, it's all coming back to me (thank you, Bill Gunston's Encyclopaedia of Combat Aircraft; even if you are 40 years old, you are still good for a lot of stuff.) IIRC also, the J29 was the first Western European swept-wing fighter in service.

The photo is ambiguous about the manufacturer of the camera body. It might be mistaken for a Contax.

That J-29 is a real beauty and I like that it still "whitens" at the tight turns! :-)

All enjoyable pix. That first image of the set uploaded here is particularly nice.

Personally, I'd crop it a little though, to remove some of the dead space above and below the jet, and highlight the nice, sharp direct frontal aspect you got on the airplane, and it's trailing wing tip wash.

PS, it's good to see that merely by shooting Pentax, one can 15 minutes of local media fame. It gives me hope.

A European Airshow tour would be a great use of vacation time. England and Sweden seem to still be doing things right.

Västerbotten och Ångermanland för det mesta. Kul att se dina bilder på Flickr (blev följare)! Har inte kommit så långt där än, men jag har en jäkla bra kamera!
