I think, Sigma would be more important. The Pentax bodies all offer a lot bang for the buck, but most lenses don't. A K-1 with the Sigma 24-105/4 Art would be really great.
Or a K-70 (or K-3 III) with Sigma 50-100/1.8...
Agreed. I think Sigma, as a whole, offer a range of lenses that would interest many more people. But why does it have to be either/or? We can have both petitions..

There are so many potential 'holes' in the lineup that Sigma, Tamron, and Zeiss could fill.. I don't think we'll see Zeiss lenses in K mount though. I only think Sony sees them due to the $$$ partnership they seem to have with Zeiss.

Slightly off-topic. But I totted up the price of a Sony E-mount system today and near fell off my chair. It rocked past 14,000 in short order! Those new f/2.8 zooms and G Master things are quite intensely expensive. I have some of the Sony Zeiss (1.4/35, 1.8/55) and G ( 4/70-200) lenses already and seeing the retail prices makes me feel more confident about off loading the ones I have on the "barely used" market.

All I can say is VIVA LA PENTAX!!!

I do have the Zeiss Distagon 2/35 and Planar 1.4/85 ZK's. If people want genuine (not converted) ZK's, then I recommend snapping the last remaining ones up quick. The 2/35 is most commonly available, followed by the 2/28, then the 1.4/85, a few 2.8/25's appear now and again. The Macro-Planar's (most desirable) and the few other ZK's like the 2.8/21 are rare as hens teeth.

Remember folks, you don't have to convert the lenses yourself. I certainly wouldn't being a ham fisted ape with an IQ well into the double digits. I highly recommend you get the two parts, a. Zeiss ZF.2 lens of choice (check with David at Leitax first) and b. the Leitax conversion kit . . . and hand both over to a lens engineer to do the work for you.

I wish Leitax would also do a Pentax mount for the legendary Contax 100-300 mm. I am afraid it will never happen.

So, just to add to my post earlier in this thread..
We had a thread about Zeiss before: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/317187-zeis...nt-lenses.html
And its a big thread

I do find it rather masochistic to even ask Zeiss to do this.

Sample: Zeiss 21/2.8:
Recommended retail price is 1.649 EUR. And that is what you would have to pay to Zeiss following the petition.
Same lens used in F-Mount costs 950 EUR. Plus 68 EUR Leitax mount. Plus 50 EUR conversion service for the people with fear. Total 1.068 EUR.

So the petition asks for a price premium of 600 EUR.

And you can get an autofocussing Zoom DFA 15-30 for the same price as the Zeiss. No, the Zeiss lens is not better at all: Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 Classic Lens Image Quality

Yep. If these forums can't find 100 people who will put their money down for a specific Zeiss lens, then no petition will matter. Zeiss has no use in selling 20 21mm, 15 28mm, 16 50mm lenses, 23 100mm lenses.. no, they need to sell over 100 of just one of these lenses for it to be worth their while. Its a business. I'm sure Zeiss would love to make ZK lenses, if they were profitable enough.

How about Zeiss offering parts kits to convert ZF or ZE lenses to ZK? I suspect Cosina designed the lenses so that very few parts differ. But perhaps there's a calibration step for the aperture lever?

This is the complicated part, because the ZK lenses had auto-aperture. Samyang and Zeiss KA lenses actually allow some more automation on Pentax K than some of the other mount versions do. Its not a completely manual, dead mount (like Mitakon and Holga and possibly others)

The ZF.2 lenses have full support for camera selecting aperture. I suspect the stop-down lever works the same way in ZF lenses, but the absence of chips may restrict what Nikon's fussy cameras are willing to do.

I know that Pentax-A lenses generally have a calibration adjustment for the auto-aperture operation. Clamp screw in a slot with goop securing it.

Leitax conversion is very easy to do. Just pick up clocksmith screwdriver kit and sandpaper before getting to work. 00-sized philips head fits if I remember correctly.

We do not need manual focus Zeiss lenses as we have several manual ones in the Pentax legacy.
Also Zeiss does not need Pentax if they consider the possible business on it.

The optics compared to Pentax K lenses are just totally different styles. I really want to get my hands on a Carl Zeiss Otus 55 1.4 for my K-1. I signed the petition too! Shot with an old Carl Zeiss T* 25 2.8 ZK.

How desperate can we get? Asking Zeiss to make more lenses for Pentax.
We should ask Pentax to make more lenses for Pentax.
