K-1 and HD DA 35/2.8 Macro Limited

I know they're not 100% compatible--light vignetting depending on aperture and hood usage--but I bought another copy of this lens, because it's so remarkable. I had the SMC version which I sold a while ago, and I've missed it ever since.

I want to see what others are doing with this combo! I know that @Sandy Hancock is a fan of this lens on a K-1.

Could you send me a photo of the vignetting at full hood extension, fully open and closed aperture? I'm thinking of seeing if a hood mod is feasible for this model. I have the SMC verison, but I want to see if there is any difference with the HD.

I would not recommend buying this lens just for FF use, but if you already own this lens you should definitely try it out.
It has its limitations but if you work around them this lens is so much joy, even in FF mode .

Looking at the examples above the K-1's new 1:1 crop mode might work nicely. It would cut out the hard vignetting but give you a little extra view that shooting APS-C crop - although I don't know what the lens' performance would be like at the top and bottom edges.

Despite Fat Albert's original post, I definitely consider it a (wonderful!) crop lens. I covers full frame at very close focal distances, but the edges are weak. It will do at a pinch. The DFA50 or DFA100 are much better macro options.

At more distant focus it vignettes quite heavily on FF even with the hood retracted. Not by a lot mind you, so make your own decision if it's acceptable.
