Now were talking!!!

Sorry if this is secret, though I'm guessing not!
Sorry again if this has already reported on the forums.

Just spoken in person with a pretty solid Pentax rep who says.......

Phottix flash support by year end!!!!

2, New higher end full frame next year

3, 645z replacement next year

4, lenses for both formats.

Damn, the flash situation has just made my day, Phottix are doing great things plus I didn't know they make the electronics for other brands so could mean even more compatiability to follow.

I'm done.

Phottix adding some radio triggers for Pentax would be nice indeed.

A 'higher end' full-frame sounds like Pentax might be planning to use the same 42MP sensor that was in the A7R2. Perhaps with some other fancy hardware. Could be interesting. But 'high end' could also simply mean 4K video support or something.

Some people may be sceptical on this one but the K1 was always the "entry"level FF, so a 50mp 4K FF "has" to be next, right?

I was rather hoping for a FF version of the K-70. Anyway I will be an observer, sitting on my hands and rocking back and forward cos I just don't need a new camera yet. The credit card is kind of safe because I have discovered M lenses for a bit....
Oh, and if Ricoh do introduce (pleeease) a DFA 28mm f/anything I want one.

I was thinking primes, I probably will hold off a bit and try and ignore Black Friday for everything but a computer. I have an M 50 f1.7 on the way for some manual fun.

When might we sniff the official news?, is there a preferred timing for these things?

I still think 28mm makes more sense, for both APSC and FF, they will fly off the shelves.

The lens roadmap predicts 2017 for the FF primes, now considering the FA 31/43/77mm all sell well and the DA 35/40/50/70 all do a good job on FF,then I'm expecting a 24ish...16ish....135ish DFA......theres already 50/100s.This will give a good spread of FLs

Nice to hear some new rumours!

Most of them not very surprising, except the 'new high-end full frame next year' bit. I'd have thought a new high-end APS-C was the next port of call, but I guess it's possible that Ricoh are riding the wave from the K-1's success.

As always, time will tell.

While im waiting forma a UWA for the K1 i rather purchase the DA10-17 im gonna use it from 15mm and above, that will cover my needs until my skills can handle (or justify) a DFA* lens

I guess the question is what direction are they going to take this in? Are they going to go for more higher end stuff and jampack more features? Or go lower end to make FF the new APSC?

I'm guessing the former, I still think APSC is great for low/mid range.

An expanded range of flash units could help all four Pentax formats. Some small units for bodies without on-board flash are a priority, and larger off-hotshot units could be considered, too.

However, this thread is about the 35FF and 645 formats, so APS-C buyers will have to look elsewhere for bodies and (some) lenses. Discussions about lens gaps have been prolific in other threads, so I won't repeat my thoughts here. Suffice it to say that more lenses for all formats would be a good thing, especially if they occupy both ends of the price spectrum.

Considering everything that's been packed into the K-1 body, it'd be hard to envisage a new 35FF body at a higher level, unless it was a specialist monster for extreme low-light or high-speed work, and/or maybe video.

Nonetheless, a stripped-down K-1 with a plastic body and a simpler LCD might be a successful entry-level body.
