Image count on K1

Am I missing something here.

I have just purchased a K1 and upon taking the first pictures the image numbering started at _img001.DNG the next one was _img002.DNG. When I took some more the numbering started much higher _img3425.JPG

The first one's were taken using a smc Pentax 18-250 mm in crop mode then the next one was taken using a smc DA* 300mm in FF mode

I did a search in the forum to see if this was already discussed, found nothing.

Any assistance in solving this riddle would be appreciated.

Thanks

Take a new jpg photo and upload it here without any editing to see your shutter count:

I did that last night and it indicated the shutter count was 37, which reflects the number of photos I have taken probably taken.

If you happened to be using an old sd card, which happened to have a photo on, the numbering will switch to using the highest number plus one.

That is a possibility, before I installed two new 32GB Lexar Platinum II cards. Is there a way to change the count which will reflect the true number of images taken?

Selecting File Number Setting may be available in [File No.] of [Memory] in [Rec Mode] of your camera settings menu. It is listed in my K-5IIS manual that way, so I am not sure if the setting is found in the same area of your camera (K-1) settings menu, but may be similar.

Thanks for the assistance. I went into the Custom Settings on the K1 and in the #3 page I was able to reset the file number to start at 0001.
