I just shot a wedding with a Pentax M-50mm 1.7 and an SMC 135mm and it went absolutely fantastic.
I'd love to see the results - could you share some of the photos?

I have a DA*55 that hunt all the time if i put no "adjustement" in the body. Try to see if even a +1 or -1 can solve the problem.

with this i came from unsable DA*55 to a decently fast lens.

But i do agree with you, the SDM motor is slower than the screw-drive one.

I really wish they could re-do this lens with a really fast in-lens motor ....

I hate to tell you but AF fine adjustment won't affect the focus hunt.

i think it can if it allows the lens to NOT be in an in-between focus value, which was my case (the AF confirmation always blinking with the lens micro-adjusting endlessly - litteraly).

Just shot my second ever wedding for friends with the K-1, FA Limiteds, D-FA 24-70mm and 70-200mm. I found it a great combo, excellent low light AF and noise performance.

A few shots.....

Looks great! I'm sure they'll love them. How was it hauling the d-fa 70-200 around?

It's a heavy lump, but an excellent performer. I rented it from SRS Microsystems. I required a silent focussing lens, so my Tamron was out of the question.

I was so impressed with the speed and quality of the D-FA 70-200 that I'll be looking for one later this year.

Yes, very happy.
It's big and heavy - but focusses quickly and image quality is better than DA* 16-50 on APS-C IMO.

It's on my K-1 most of the time, although i don't think any of the above images were shot with it.
They're mostly D-FA 70-200 and FA 77.

So far i love my K1 as a wedding camera... but still the only thing that i wish it can improve is the AF Light trigger sesitivity.. that will help a lot at receptions

Yes, the AF assist light NEEDS to have a manual "on" option. I purchased the Cactus V6-II triggers, as they have their own built-in (and brighter) AF lamps, however they are still dependent on when the K-1 tells them to activate. The D-FA 24-70 is a great lens.. (I rented it for one of my last weddings). I see you also have the Sigma 85 1.4 as well... I can't wait to get my hands on one of those.

My biggest complaint is the buffer. Fills up too fast. Shooting the bride walking up behind the groom for the first look and about half way through the first look I had to switch to my other camera because the buffer was full (medium speed). I seem to hit my buffer limit 2 times at every wedding. There are usually only 2 or 3 times during a wedding that things are moving fast enough that its a problem, but its still a problem.
