The focus assist light comes in handy when you're AF is set to auto. If you got your camera set to single focus point the focus assist light might not even go off, or might take longer for it to go off.

Thank you for sharing the pics. There are some shots that appear to be out of focus on the edges, is that because of your aperture setting or is it the issue with specific lens?

apperture settings.. thats part of shooting at large apertures ( f1.4 f1.8.. even f2.8 might do it )
