Here's my reaction to the video now that I have had a chance to see it more than once.

1) Limited value for real qualitative comparison.
2) High value for subjective comparison
3) It is not meant to be a substantive eval of m4/3 vs. FF
4) Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 is not the best m4/3 lens
5) It was helpful to see how close m43 can be even under uneven conditions. And yet also how much better the K-1 can be.

That is all... nothing earth shattering here.

Imagine this.

Thanksgiving dinner, someone brings up a topic, a new thread. Difference between M43 and Full Frame. All you hear was " it ispointless" " it is boring".

Who is in the wrong? I agree, keep it friendly or people who aren't will get a rebuttal that requires some heat.

If you are going to say something that is pointless or boring, Don't say anything at all and move along.

I dont want to be boring as this one person suggested on a video.

I will answer , and that is Em5-Mk II, G7/ though it doesnt allow Ibis in 4k video mode and shooting mode. I bought the GF7 but I resold it due to the shutter button. It was made cheap and it felt like it was going to fall off if I used it another year or so. Great compact M43, but they need to fix that issue. Though they are releasing a new version with 4K mode but lacks every other feature that the other models have which is flippy screen, cropping in 4k, weather seal and the list goes on. I like the Gx8, but there is no ibis during 4k recording. If it had that and no crop in 4k recording, it would been a champ.

I think this is more towards the M43 community than us but its nice to watch the iso being tested against a crop sensor.

Makes me feel good in owning a K1.

Thank you for posting, very interesting results.
I was expecting the K1 ( more because it is FF) to blow up the MFT, however from the final result perspective.. the mft did a fantastic job. the K-1 definitely is top but how much is upto teh individual.

Makes me think to stick to my K-5II

I invested in M43 back in 2009 for video but still used Pentax for stills because I needed more exposure range and low light performance than M43 could provide. Last Spring, I really wanted a K-1, but video is important to me. I ended up with a pair of Lumix GX85 rangefinder style bodies. Photo image quality is about K-x level (the Sony 12 megapickle sensor) which is sufficient for my needs. Video image quality blows away anything that Pentax produces.

I still want a K-1 to use with my FA31 and FA43, but if the GH-5 produces K-5 level image quality, the only thing that may keep me a Pentaxican is sentimentality.
