K1 continuous shooting

question i think my K1 is not working right , i know it was not a fast camera, but when i put in continuous mode hi, it is no faster than a reg shot. i have held the shutter release down but just not working right, do i need to set any thing else up to use this function? i have gone over the manual and all it says is to set the continuous mode and hold the shutter down. any help or if you could point me in the right direction , would be much appreciated.

A couple ideas:
1. Make sure your shutter speed is fast enough. If you've selected a slow shutter speed (i.e. are testing the camera indoors), the burst rate will inevitably be slow.
2. Disable clarity enhancement and portrait color correction, as these add a good amount of extra processing time for each shot
3. Try setting the AF to manual just to eliminate the focus setting as a potential factor

You already received some good advice.

A few more comments:
- ensure that all in-camera post-processing (PP) is switched off;
- use a SD card that is fast enough to empty rapidly the buffer;

My 5 cents....

Good advice above. Just to check frame rate, set a shutter speed of 1/250 or so and turn off in camera lens correction. Switching to Crop mode should also greatly increase frame rate. In crop mode, my K-1 is nearly the equal of my K-3. Hope this is a help.

There is always a trade-off when you prioritize features to your preferences. Set up the camera to suite your requirements, and it is not going to suit everyone else. A bit like asking why you can't have a car that is both powerful and economical. Just be grateful one can make one's own selection of the features most desired in our cameras.

Great advice. I was needing this information. Does shooting jpeg over RAW help as well?

If you shot in RAW you can in camera process pictures and then engage Clarity or Skin tone only in shots that need this stuff.

Just to re-iterate what's been mentioned above. Just got my K-1 II today and was setting it up. I turned on the Clarity function and then spent an hour trying to figure out why I wasn't getting multiple shots when holding the shutter down despite having set it up for that. Finally went searching on Pentaxforum and found this post and voila, turned off the Clarity function and continuous shooting worked just fine.
