Sigma made it quite clear that Pentax is a dead market for them. No new lenses will be issued in k-mount. My guess is that Pentax camera sales would have to triple in volume before Sigma considers k-mount worth the effort.

Tamron has said similar, but they are a special case because Ricoh and Tamron have partnered on some recent lenses. That contractual agreement may very well restrict Tamron from independently releasing k-mount lenses.

To be fair, Sigma SA mount is dead too. Sigma has committed to the Panasonic/Leica L mount...at least for the "Art" lenses.

Couldn't/Wouldn't Sigmas mount conversion service be of use here though? > Mount conversion service - Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd - just a thought.

That service is only available between mounts that are already manufactured in a specific lens model. For example, let's say Sigma comes out with a new 50mm macro. They list it for Canon and Sony mounts, for some reason they decide not to sell it for Nikon. You couldn't use that service to slap on a Nikon mount.

It's disappointing that I can't get new Sigma lenses for my Pentax, but it's understandable. They've never tested the lens for firmware compatibility, mirror box clearance, aperture coupling, etc.

Sigma has completely abandoned Pentax, so I don't think the mount conversion service is even available for K-mount anymore. I've heard they won't flash the ROM of a K-mount lens, is the K-1 scratch fix even available anymore?

Not true - zooms like the 17-70, 18-35, 18-250, 18-300, and even the 70-300 are still there, even on the Sigma USA site. As are primes like the 35 f1.4.

I'd personally like to see the 120-300 f2.8 DG HSM show up in K-mount one day, but I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen.

It is true. They are all dated. The last one newly released for Pentax was back in 2014. In the meantime, about 75 new ones have been released for Canon/Nikon and now also for Sony instead of Pentax. Almost the complete Art/Contemporary/Sports range is missing.

I suspect they're not even manufacturing those lenses anymore, they're just sitting on shelves, running them down in inventory.

if anyone could figure a way around it it would be you all.

that is the one frustrating thing about k1 and k3; the limited sigma et al lenses.the camera is great, however
