Considering full frame need lens help

I am thinking about moving on from my K3 and going full frame with the K1. Which of my lenses would I no longer be able to use if I decide on the full frame?

55-300
18-135
18-55
50-200
50 f1.8
35 f2.4
Sigma 10-20
Sigma18-35 f1.8

You can USE all of them. They will all work, but most will vignette to some degree. You can also put the K-1 in crop mode and then they will all work as they did on your K-3 except with an image about the size of a K-5.

Of the lenses you list only the DA 50 f/1.8 and the DA 35 f/2.4 will give you reasonable performance on the K-1 in FF mode. The others will vignette to some degree, at some focal length. If you are serious about moving to FF honestly you are going to need new glass unless you want to use the K-1 in crop mode.

Would the APS-C lenses work on the K1 in the APS-C crop mode?

I would get rid of the ones that require crop mode and then get the 28-105, Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED DC WR Lens 21297 B&H

You can use them all in crop mode, for sure.

You know about these, right ?: Pentax Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database and Pentax Lenses by Sigma, Tamron, Zeiss, and more - Reviews and Specification Database - Pentax Lens Review Database

It may be that the 50 will work on FF w/o issues.

But, I would encourage you to slowly build up a group of FF lenses. The 28-105 is quite a decent starter lens if you're on a budget. The 50 f1.7 is highly regarded and pretty inexpensive. The 100 macro WR is great, so is the 50 macro, and the older FA 35 f 2. Don't hesitate to look into the used market.

You can also sell off some or all of your apsc gear, and/or do trade-ins which has helped me tremendously.

I’m also thinking about the 24-70 since it is such a great deal right now and I know that’s a FF lens right? I shoot quite a bit of kids’ sports so I definitely need a long lens for that. Any recommendations there?

Here are all the current FF lenses:
Full Frame Lenses | PentaxForums.com
Full Frame Third Party Lenses | PentaxForums.com

Since all of your lenses are APS-C (except maybe the 50mm, which works quite well when stopped down), you'd want to replace them with FF alternatives.

If you want both a compact and high-quality walkaround, you could get both the 28-105mm and 24-70mm, or just pick the one you think you'd use more often. Personally, I use the former and supplement it with primes as needed.

Get the FA 77mm if you want a good portrait lens to replace the 50mm (because on FF, the 50mm will feel more like your 35mm on the K-3).

For wide angles, it's hard to beat the Pentax 15-30mm, so that would be my recommendation.

The only thing left is telephoto. Currently compact-ish options for FF tele lenses are limited, so it might be a good idea to keep the K-3 with the 55-300mm. If you want to fully migrate to the K-1, then either consider the big 150-450mm, or something like the Tamron 70-300mm as a temporary measure:

Either the 24-70 or the 28-105 should be your first lens, either will work and cover the most used focal lengths. The 24-70 is of course much faster.

For a longer lens the DFA*70-200 f/2.8 is the obvious choice. The 24-70 plus the 70-200 would be the classic FF zoom combo. Add the 15-30 if you need ultra-wide.

If on a budget, I'd get the 28-105, otherwise my personal choice when money ain't a problem, would be to get the 24-70 because it's a non-varial f stop lens at constant 2.8 and to me that is huge for a zoom lens.

I'll add that both the 24-70mm and 15-30mm are selling at historical lows right now, if that makes the decision any easier:

If you're on a budget, check out keh (at KEH Camera Store) to see if some of the lenses you need are there & are in your budget, or your can check out the Marketplace here on the forums.

Yes, the 24-70 is a good deal right now

I also just got one. The 28-105 is a lot smaller.

The Tamron deal right now is sort of a steal---$129.00 right now. It's said to be sluggish at AF though. You haven't said what your budget is. That's important....

I have to disagree with everyone above stating "get rid of X,Y,Z"....

Don't get rid of any until you try it on a K-1. In FF the field-of-view will appear different of course, but if vignetting isn't apparent or bothersome (or non-existent) you may well discover a "new" lens to you, one that you may not have used as often on the K-3. It could simply appear "fresh", perhaps more useful perspective.

And of course, as others say, crop-mode will be available for any of them. So, just try it out for yourself. Go from there. All of them will work in some regard. That's my 2 bits advice.
