The 99% of the time that I go out with the K-1 II I have in a Case Logic DSLR TBC-411 small backpack this gears:
  1. K-1 II with FA 24-90 f/3.5-4.5
  2. DA* 60-250 f/4.0 (modded to use it with FF)
  3. FA 20-35 f/4.0
  4. FA 43 f/1.9 Limited
  5. FA 77 f/1.8 Limited
  6. Filters 67mm / 58mm
  7. Another Battery
  8. SD cards
  9. Remote control
  10. Cover in case of rain
  11. HAMA Lens Pen
  12. Glasses cloth
  13. Silica Gel in each compartment

Instead what I have inside the furniture will remain a secret ... in case my wife ever read this post...

With my K1, the lenses I generally use are my 28-105, my 100mm Macro DF A , F 2.8, my 50 F 1.4 and Macro 50 F 2.8.

I also carry around two ASP-C Limited lenses, my 40 and my 70. For these, I set the K1 to Full Frame and I like these lenses, even though some might say they're ASP-C...why use them.

I find that in the past couple of years I've gravitated towards my prime lenses. I find them interesting to use, albeit a zoom has more versatility. The nature of a zoom is wonderful to use, but I also find I like the challenge of a prime...when it comes to composition.

One lens I plane to use is my Pentax 'A' 35-105 Macro zoom. It's old (I bought it new, Dec. 1984) , heavy, manual focus, but I've loved the pix I've got from this lens. Some of my best ever and this lens is probably my all time favourite Pentax mount lens.

I generally use my Sigma 150-500 , although it is a full frame lens, with my ASP-C K-5. The K-5 is an excellent camera and gets more 'reach' out of the this telephoto lens than my FF K-1 would be able to.

I'm a hobbyist, an amateur...so unlike a pro, I'm not faced by a number of constraints and requirements. I'm able to take my time and I don't have to please clients...I'm the only client.

Been using the DFA 28-105mm quite a bit for studio work. It's really as good as everyone says despite being a "kit" lens. Alongside that I have the FA 77. Would really like the DFA* 70-200 to be my next lens but haven't found one at the right price. I'll also be very interested in the DFA* 85 that is coming. As you can see, I am in the camp that wants to use the newest lenses with the K-1.

Being a devoted bokeholic, I only shoot fast, prime, manual focus lenses at (or nearly) wide open on my Pentax K-1. In the last few years I've tested hundreds of such lenses for bokeh. The following adapted lenses are what I'm frequently using these days:

# Zeiss ZF 35mm 1.4 (Classic version)
# Zeiss ZF 50mm 1.4 (Milvus version)
# Leica R 80mm 1.4 Summilux (Mandler design)
# Zeiss ZF 85mm 1.4 (Milvus version)
# Zeiss ZK 85mm 1.4 (Classic version)
# Nikkor 105mm 2 D.C. (Defocus Control)
# Leica R 135mm 2.8 (Mandler design)
# Bronica Zenzanon S 150mm 3.5 (highly rated by Mike Johnson the "father of bokeh")

To get some inspiration I am curious to hear about the lenses you all are using and in what situations.
Are here also any frequent vintage glass users?

Im curious to hear about your most loved lenses and it's time to confess what your dislikes about them!
Most of my lenses are legacy. I like their simplicity and quality.
  • .--FA*..20mm 2.8.............(architecture)
  • .--FA*..31mm 1.8 Limited.(architecture, documentation)
  • D FA*..50mm 1.4.............(allround)
  • .--FA*..77mm 1.8 Limited.(allround)
  • D FA-100mm 2.8 Macro..(allround & macro)
  • .--F*..300mm 4.5.............(wildlife)
QuickShift and WR would be nice on some of the older lenses.
The integrated of the F* lenses is very useful.

Hi,
for me, my historical lens FA 20-35 F4 is always on my camera.
After, the FA 50mm F/1.4 is realy good.
and more rarely, I use the FA* 85mm f/1.4 and the incredible DA* 300mm F/4, for mountain landscapes.

My colllection
Rokinon 14mm f2.8 for astro work
Sigma 17-35mm bought for 150 and is my landscape workhorse.
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 rarely used on crop, its my most used on full frame.
FA 31mm got this in a trade deal for DA 21 and cash, I love it but its a bit flare prone.
Sigma 50mm f1.4 - my most used portrait lens
DA 300mm - my wildlife lens.
.
My next purchase will be either a 15-30mm or a 77mm limited

Since my earlier post I have had a bit of an epiphany. A couple of huge zooms (15-30 and *70-200) will go in preference to significantly smaller but still superb crop cousins (*11-18, *50-135).

The DFA150-450 will stay (despite its size) because it's awesome. I'll probably use it on crop more than FF though.

The DFA24-70 is (IHMO) a significantly better lens than the DA*16-50 so it too is safe for now. Anyway, the size difference is not that great.

The DFA28-105 is definitely a keeper for outdoor use.

My FF primes (20/2.8, 24/2.0, 31/1.8, 35/1.4, 43/1.9, 50/1.2, 50/1.4, 64/2.9, 77/1.8, 85/1.4, 100/2.8 macro, 135/2.8) are not negotiable. I would struggle to find equivalents for a crop system.

That was a sudden fall from favour for the 15-30. You were singing its praises recently.

I don't think I could ever let go of the *70-200.

I didn't say I didn't like it! It's a fantastic lens for the serious landscape or architecture shooter who is happy to carry it and the filter kit it needs, but I don't think I can justify keeping it at my skill level when the DA*11-18 does >90% of it in a much less clunky package.

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be able to pick it up

Seriously though, it's an incredible piece of glass, but I no longer shoot events commercially. Before the K-1 came out I was totally happy shooting those events with the DA*50-135, and these days if I really want super-shallow DoF I can use the primes.

The quality of vintage Pentax glass on the K1 / full frame

I think this question has been asked before - and perhaps answered - but I have an A SMC 50mm f1.7, an M42 SMC 105mm f2.8, an M42 SMC 200mm f4, a DA 21mm f3.2 and a DA XS 40mm f2.8. As I believe, all superior glass. I dearly want to go full frame because my photographic passion is to produce huge prints.

So I'm keen to understand if anyone think's that the K1 sensor will outperform the lenses, which would then render it a pointless exercise to go full frame from crop. My opinion: the current crop sensors are outstanding. However, the full frame sensor is not so much better, it's just larger. So, in theory, same quality from the glass, just the ability to print bigger, with narrower DOF.

Anyone agree, disagree?

Yes, FF is larger, and therefore it isn't as hard on lenses. The only possible issue is some legacy lenses (mostly variable aperture zooms) is that the lenses may perform particularly at certain focal lengths toward the edges of the FF image circle. You could, however, argue that because of the size and cost of FF, there should be more emphasis on higher quality glass — that it would be irrational, for example, to drop $2,000 on a camera and then shoot cheap consumer grade zooms from the nineties. But I would say that most of the better legacy primes in, let's say, the 24mm to 135mm should be fine. They may not be quite as sharp or contrasty as the modern DFA lenses (both zooms and primes), but there's not much difference — certainly not enough to be uptight about. My K 28/3.5 may not be quite as sharp as my DFA 28-105 @ 28mm, but that doesn't mean it's out-resolved by the sensor. The fact is, even if the DFA 28-105 is sharper, the differences are pretty slight and can only be noticed if you do some serious pixel peeping.

Here's a shot taken with the K 28/3.5 and the K-1 of Humboldt Bay:
