Does it matter that it is K-1 mark II?

---------- Post added 02-17-19 at 02:42 PM ----------

I read the detailed reviews here. Basically the same.

Same behavior with DA• 55.
1/4 second F1.4 ISO 200.

Something not right.

This one has no aperture ring.
Are you saying you're seeing F-- on the screen with a lens without an aperture ring?

Clean those camera contacts!
That was my problem when lenses wouldn't communicate with the K-1
I think my K-1 came with grease over them.
Once cleaned (just wiped off), then my K-1 would no longer switch off spontaneously, and would communicate fine with every lens.
FA lenses should work seamlessly on the K-1.
Make sure the lenses are all on the A position on their aperture rings.
All FA lenses have an aperture ring
DA lenses will not - everything is electronically set between the camera and lens.
But again, clean each of the contact, and you may as well do that on the lenses as well for good measure.

I will clean. No F— not problem.
Won’t use pic button to focus. Won’t see aperture automatically.

Crazy numbers to get zero on light meter.

Cleaned lenses and camera. Twice. Same results.

I do not own a K-1 so I could be wrong.
Set the camera to the "FULL" auto mode. Then try and focus with the shutter button. In this mode your shutter button should activate the focus motor. If it does than you will know that the lens is focusing properly. Then switch the camera to av mode and press the shutter button 1/2 way. If the focus motor does not respond than you probably have the back button focus activated and the shutter button focus disabled. They can be configured in your settings
Hope this might help!!

Do you have the aperture rings set to 'A' now?

All my APSC stuff going on marketplace soon.

I’ll keep the three amigos the DA*55 and the two radioactive manual lenses. Although I’m willing to sell one.

Hard to know where the camera went wrong there. It shouldn't have gone bonkers like that from a setting on it. Well, whatever you did, congratulations. It should work flawlessly with all lenses from now on. Otherwise, I'd be suspecting a recurring problem with it. Give it a good test run on all your AF lenses.

Try this. These are for a K-1, not a K-1ll, so some of the MENU pages might be slightly off:
  1. Turn the camera Off
  2. Move the AF Lever on the left side of the snout to AF if on MF
  3. Remove the lens and put the body cap on the body
  4. Turn the camera on
  5. In MENU | C | 4 | scroll down to
    1. Reset Custom Functions below #26.
    2. Press Right Arrow | Up Arrow | OK to reset all functions to the Default settings
  6. Put Camera in AUTO (Green) Mode using the MODE dial on the left shoulder of the camera
  7. Move the Function Selector Dial on the right shoulder of the camera (right next to the prism) so the white dot is aligned with the white stripe on the prism
  8. Turn the camera off
  9. Mount one of your problem lenses that is set to A on the aperture ring. Be sure to remove the lens cap
  10. Turn the camera on
  11. On the LCD you should see the aperture value, the shutter speed and the ISO the camera selected, the EV Comp bar, Meter Mode, AF Mode and 4-Way Controller functions. The AF Points Grid should have AUTO above it.
  12. You should be able to Autofocus using half-press of the Shutter Button.

I got locked out. So it’s me but a new account. This time I made it where I can remember.

Camera reads F now.
But no line under AF lever.

Where I am now. It does not auto focus. Nor does then viewfinder light up. It only does full click to pic no focus.
Sorry - the line / hashmark is above the AF lever.
