Da* 85

I wanted it for a long time. I’m trying to curb my lens addiction.

I think I’ll get one more. At least for the next couple years ha ha.

I was thinking the non-kit FF other lens. I forget like 24-70. I’m searching now.

I have the FA 77.

How does that 85 compare and does it enhance my life ?

I wanted it bad way back. Not so much now with FF. Just curious.

It's not out yet. Optically, you should expect a masterpiece like the D FA* 50mm, but that carries with it a lot of extra bulk compared to the 77mm.

Are they making a new 85? I meant the one from days gone by.

Ah

In other words. Wait a few years to buy a modern lens.

Stop buying ancient lens.

I think it's supposed to be a lot sooner than that. Isn't it actually the next lens due?

There is no DA* 85. Never has been. There was an FA* 85 (discontinued) for a while. Good lens by all I have seen. @LeRolls shoots it and loves it.

We are hoping the DFA*85 will be released later this year. If the DFA*50 is anything to go by it will be worth the wait.

In the meantime, the FA*85 is a wonderful lens. Even a photographer of my limited abilities can get something useful from it occasionally.

Here is another example of what you can do with the FA* 85 and the K-1.

That's just mean. What a way to rain on my parade! Chris is the master of this lens (even though he now shoots a *cough* $ony).

Another of mine:

This guy would do the same with the cheapest 85mm lens on the market and that is Samyang 85mm. He obviously knows how to take photos and has beautiful models. In other words, upgrade your skills not necessarily your gear.

If the DFA*85 is better than the FA*85 then it will be one of the best lenses ever. Even with the new DFA*85 in play, the FA*85 will still be a very acceptable lens.
