Confused about the button

On the back the button that does timer white balance etc I want to adjust. But it just adjust the focus area top to bottom and left to right.

Book said put in standby mode.

I’m not sure how.

There is a button directly above with four arrows. Press that and it toggles the four button pad to move the focus point.

Hold down the ok button. This will switch between AF select and white balance etc.
Or as above depending on camera model.
