What matters is the weight of the battery if the manufacturer is playing honest game. Cheapo Bling Lazer clones with 5000mAh often weight less > fail.

I have several wasabi branded batteries for my K1 and they do die significantly quicker then the Pentax branded cells. They are good for when your main Pentax batteries have died and you need something in a pinch, but I only keep them for emergency backup.
I have a couple of random brandless ebay-batteries that still hold a decent charge after more than five years so if youre lucky you are lucky.

Also I have an original battery from K-7 that cannot be distinguished from my newer Pentax batteries from other than the label saying Hoya corporation instead of Ricoh corporation so I guess that makes my earlier statement invalid

I've only ever purchased OEM batteries, but the ones I bought since my time with the K5 still hold their charges and last ages. Mind you, I don't go shooting that often, but the fact they hold their charge for so long just shows how reliable they are.

I have had these amazon.com : Wasabi Power Battery for Pentax D-LI90 : Digital Camera Batteries : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20& for about two years and they work great with zero problems.

I found my wasabi like 2/3 the charge of OEM and they go from full bar to nothing in a flash (which is terrible for battery management in the field). Also I've had flickering screens and other oddness going on with 3rd party batteries. Also 3rd lifespans are terrible, I am still using my 1st party batteries but I've had several off brands dead already. Its a false economy to use 3rd party batteries.

I have multiple OEM batteries and the Wasabi

have no problems but then I replace batteries often and use the battery grips for the K 3 and K 3 II so I have back up available
