I started with Fuji and bought way too many lenses at the time. I liked the idea of the old school dials and the filmic look. The XPro2 was terrible for studio work. The XT2 was better but battery time still sucks.

One year later I stumbled over Pentax and the K1 and found it very interesting with its 36MP sensor, IBIS (in a DSLR right?) and pixelshift and the optical viewfinder.
I think I did it out of curiosity and to see if it is „better“.

Now I am using the K1 for 80% of my work in studio (the 645Z is doing the rest but is gaining ..).

What I really like is the whole ergonomics. The little green button! The button layout. Nearly everything is on the right side.
I can do my compositons without turning the camera on, thanks to the OVF.
I can use old lenses although I do this quite rarely.
I find the camera quite intuitive now, much more than my Fujis.

And because Pentax seems to care more about picture quality then weight or size, I feel I have come to the right place. (I work on a tripod all the time.)
Do I need 1.4 lenses? Not really but it is nice to have them in case I do.

What do I really miss?
4:3 ratio crop in camera
Pixelshift with flash

I had a decent set of FF lenses for my film cameras. It was cheaper to invest into a FF body than buying an APS-C and getting a set of DA lenses. So any upgrade is future proof, keep the lenses, change only the body. My philosophy is: never sell a good lens, so the lenses I own have been with me for 4 to 14 years. This obviously means that some (if not all) are not the newest, but who cares when they are Ltds, the K85/1.8 and so on. Belters...

bit the bullet, because...

a camera shop I know offered a really sweet deal (around €700, slightly used, 2 years of guarantee) . I was considering it from time to time, mainly because I like to do night photography, and I really like the lighting options on the body (also, the additional wheel was always lacking for me on my K70), but was happy enough so far.

That DOF enables me to take nicer shots is a plus I am happily taking along

I followed the trend and bought the hype around it. Well, hindsight is 20/20.

I started with film and shot FF and then along comes digital and I started out with a Cannon and Nikon APS-C and then moved to a Pentax K3-II and loved the image quality and when the K1 came out I moved back to FF because it is the winner when it comes to image quality. If I got what I got out of the K3-II then I new that Pentax would give even better IQ because of the FF and I was right. I have a KP but it does not please me like my K1 and K1 Mark II do. I now have big prints in my house hanging on the wall and never could get big prints with my K3-II to look like the prints from my K1.

I got the k1ii mostly for reasons other than image quality, though of course I appreciate better high iso performance compared to the k3ii. I really liked the way the rear screen articulates and also the third configurable dial. I had the FA 43, FA 100wr, and wanting to use them with no crop was the main reason for not getting a kp with its tilting screen.

It created a bit of a "commotion" in my lens collection. I now have a smaller and more focused lens selection, so it all worked out well and the FA 43 alone is worth it Weight isn't an issue for my current Pentax kit, but a full frame long lens would be, which is why I now have a m43 camera for birding.

I wasn't going digital until Pentax released a FF. Then they did and here I am.

system won't let me change my vote but I have one on the way

a couple of days ago I started a thread about whether it would be dangerous to rent a K 1 or K 1 II for a trip to Estes Park Co and RMNP, would I want to buy a K 1 II or K 1 after that experience ?

well, during the discussions, a member contacted me via pm and long story short, after getting an offer I couldn't refuse [ and the wife found acceptable as an early anniversary present ] I have purchased an " experienced " K 1 II

Like a lot of others, I haven't stopped using APS-C, but I now use it for telephoto reach and macro - but I jumped at the K-1 because I grew up with 35mm, and the format just feels natural (though I must admit, in my later film days, I used 120 film in the 67 and used 35mmfor telephoto and macro )
When I started photography in 1968, the ONLY lens I had was a Minolta 50mm 1.4 ( with the SRT-101). When I went to Pentax, with the K10 apsc, I rapidly found out that 50mm on apsc is just not the same as on FF. So I started filling my piggy bank and finally got my K1ii. I still use my K3ii with my 300mm F4 but mostly for birding and wildlife. I did not get the new DFA 50mm 1.4. I am a bit intimidated by the size and weight of that beast. I still use the FA 50mm 1.4 and it, well, sorta "satisfies" me.

The feeling when holding the K1ii, which is a bit taller than the K3, gives me the "grip" I feel good with without needing the battery grip like on the apsc models.

When I look through the viewfinder with my 50mm, I just get that 1968 feeling when I held an SLR for the first time. (sweet memories )

I want to go full frame.
I have a large collection of lenses that are made for FF.
I think it is the high end way to go for a hobby photographer.

To many full frame lenses in my collection from film days and it's great to see them again.

I use both, but when portability is not an issue I grab my K1. I can use my legacy wide and/or bright lenses for what they were made for.

In case once it would come to a K-mount MILC with 36x36 sensor with adjustable crop function I would buy one when it is not too expensive... The holy grale for all my K-glass.

I can see why a "FF" camera would be a "holy grail" for old K-mount prime lenses - using them "what they were made for", but I don't understand what you mean by a "36x36 sensor".
"FF" is the same size as 35mm - 36mmx24mm.

Yep

I know FF is 24x36, an image circle of a FF-lens surrounds this 2:3 frame completely, so has a diameter of approximately 44 mm. How exiting should it be having a digital sensor in a K-body that covers this circle completely (44x44 m) and you can choose the frame afterwards: Round 44 mm, 36x24, 40x20, 30x30, portrait or landscape.

I mentioned 36x36, but that is even too small for that. You need 44x44 mm for total capture of a FF image circle.
