I switched to Full Frame because it is more convenient than carrying around bigger formats.

All my old lenses

I upgraded from my old K30. I also have a large selection of old but perfectly useable lenses from my old Pentax film cameras. As well as having some Pentax 67 lenses which work perfectly on the K1ii with an adapter. I am now looking for an adapter to see if I can use my medium format lenses from my Bronica SQA i.

The K-1 (II) is the most universal Pentax-K camera - packed full of features and made many of my lenses shine even more than on my K-5 (F-Series primes, DFA macros, Zeiss Biometar ...). And for macro work, the display is stellar. So I went for FF, because it came with the best Pentax digital camera so far.

I have a Sigma 10-20mm lens for “APS-C”.
There aren’t many “FF” rectilinear lenses wider than 15mm.

Classic wides, like my F28/2.8 or A24/2.8, are wide again. Ultrawides have come a long way since those film days, both on APS-C and 'FF'.

I jumped on the band-wagon like everybody else. Almost everything I had heard from owners of FF were positive, so curiosity got the best of me. To me it was a little bit like moving from 35mm film to medium format. if I blew up an image to 8X10 or less, then I really could not tell the difference between both formats. However, once I blew up the image to 11X14 or greater, that's when I started seeing differences although very subtle. The medium format pictures had more detail and were more dynamic(3D) IMHO...

Not your typical reason

I had a Nikon FM2 and fought the digital move for years. After seeing all of the different sizes, full frame, APS-C, four thirds, blah, blah, blah. Crop factor, math blah, blah, blah. I was just fed up. Basically, my move to full-frame was out of sheer laziness. All of my lenses are from the film days so full-frame in the end was the best move for me and offers me the biggest bang for the buck in my mind.

I didn't plan to go full frame, but when my K5-II stopped working, there was a K1-II at a price I couldn't resist.

ISO 800, a film era prime, K1 goodness...that's my reason to go fullframe

I’ll second that.

I could very easily have stayed in the APS-C camp, but, having added the K-1 to its smaller siblings, I have to say that I’m pleased with the investment results, and I have no intention of ditching either format. What may well go is my MFT system.

Maybe another thread..... "Why I bought a second K1?"

My answer: My first K1 was so good I bought a second to check that it was so (slow learner here).

I like doing night shots. I got an opportunity to borrow a K1-II for a couple of hours and thought it was not going to work with not being able to see my focus point at night.

Then I got home and saw the results and figured there was a way to figure it all out.

I made up my mind to pull the trigger and one arrived in two days. I have not looked back.
