Second hand K1

Hey,

I'm looking for going FF.
I (not very actively) monitor the market section but almost never find a K1 for sale in the EU so...

I found locally two ads. The first is 45.000 clicks K1 for around 800€ and the second is 13.000 clicks for around 1000€.

Are those OK prices (considering the rest good condition) and should I really pay attention to the difference in shutter count?
I really won't use it that much but my daughter is growing in the phone only pictures are killing me...

From prices that i have seen, it sounds reasonable. I personally would pay the extra for the 13,000 clicks; Your daughter may inspire lots of clicks.

Fewer clicks are better - perhaps mister thirteen thousand is open to offers.

There are two aspects to this.
1) the camera shutter has a mean number of actuations before failing--and it is far greater than you can use--with either camera. Of course some fail earlier, but see 2).
2) Problems in the manufacture of a unit tend to show up early.
Given these I think it is a wash, and possibly the greater number of actuations is better.**
Of course new is better, but only b/c there is a warranty.
Not the same, but I am certain w/ lenses a more/well used sample is better.

_____
** Certainly for the price difference I would take the less expensive one.

Both offers seem reasonable. Which one is "better" depends on how much you want to spend, or how much money you need to keep for the next lens purchase

Both prices sound reasonable. Personally I'd go for the one with 13k clicks. And you'll love the K1 - it's amazing.

All things being equal, I would go for less click. If you can examine it in person, make sure it is clean and does not have signs of external abuse.

An absolute must, make sure the sensor is clean and has no scratches. If you get a roughed up sensor, the cost of repair would be prohibitive.

Thank you everyone, helps a lot.
I litteraly have *no* money lol. OK, could get 800€ on the side which is almost exactly what is asked so that is mostly OK.
I still have a couple FF lenses. I can get these back to work which is exactly why I'd go FF (and retire my old K5) so lenses shouldn't be a huge worry for now.

Good luck! It sounds like a winning plan.

If you are that severely money limited, I don't think a new camera is your best photography-related purchase.

I think I would go for the camera that looks like its been treated best and doesn't show signs of an accidental drop, a wall bang, cliff diving, etc.

I got my two K-1's second hand. Both were half price. The first was around 10 000 clicks, the second was around 5000. 3 years after they are still working great, and still have warranty. You see, Pentax cameras are one of these products that are top quality and failing is very rare to them. I would get the 13 000 click option though.

Thanks.

With time, my old K/M lenses will get some use too but that's when the girl will calm down

Great price - most don’t drop that low.

I thought I'd won the lottery when I scored my K-1 with about 2,500 clicks for approx half price. To be honest the asking price was good and I would have paid that, but the seller was considering offers and he accepted mine. It looked brand new.
