Bob, get well soon.

That is an expression of desire for your good, not a Macca’s sales clerk’s order to “have a nice day”.

To become a grandfather requires:
1. Becoming a father.
2. The child begotten becoming a parent.

The first involves one’s own volition, and opportunity. The second is outside our control or causative influence.

Right; and studies have shown that if your parents didn't have children you likely won't either.

Studies have also shown that if you weren't born, you have an hugely increased risk of an early death.

I am a navel orange, all juice and no seeds.

Mrs. Racer 1.0 and I were going to adopt, so I got a vasectomy.

Yep, it's great When you have them for only a day or two at a time you can have a wonderful time and spoil them silly, then hand them back to the parents for "rehab"

It can be hard work, though! As someone said, the day we figure out how the power source that drives a two year old works we'll solve the world's energy requirements.

If your parents didn’t have children they would not be your parents. And you would not exist. A mathematician would love that.

Either that or get her to think it's her idea.
Somehow, I don't think it will work. She drinks much less coffee than me. Anyway, she says it's all good once I have completed the pizza oven and the bathroom reno. But, I alos know that something will probably come up between these tasks and that goal.

I'd taken that step four times before I was 29.
Four kids here too. Four was easier than two. By then the older ones help out and they form their own little mob and are not constantly looking to mom and dad for entertainment. Do it all again too. Even with more. Nothing like a house full of chaos. When the last one left the silence was deafening.

My health issue update.
First I want to thank you all for the kind wishes and hope you know how much they're appreciated.

Smoking is a habit I was never able to kick (no lectures please) now it's time to pay the piper. No, not you Bert.
I had been losing weight that I attributed to a few things, but when the fatigue set in I knew I had to get checked out.
A CT scan Friday found a 3 centimeter mass in my left lung. A needle biopsy is being set up that will hopefully provide more info on the type, and how to proceed.
Not wanting to turn this great thread into another doom and gloom thread, I'll only post if I have some positive news to report.
Thanks again for your concerns.

Oh dear Bob. It goes without saying that we're all hoping for the best possible outcomes
