Always black with just some honey for me
I blame my mother for this one, she put sweet milky tea in my baby bottle (If I know her Red Rose she collected those ceramics, she had loads of them when she passed away
We used to collect those Red Rose Tea ceramics too, in my family way back when. Didn't Red Rose Tea advertise ..."Pity...only available in Canada, you say. "
I used to collect in the 1950's pictures of NHL hockey players...think they were 8 X 10. Think I sent away to Bee Hive syrup for them.
I had Red Kelly of the Boston Bruins, Jean Beliveau of the Habs (Montreal Canadians) and someone else of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This was in the '50's when I first started to play hockey (defence) and I recall one year the Habs were my favourite, so I got a Montreal jersey, next year it was the Boston Bruins...so I got the Bruins stockings...then the Maple Leafs, so it was the hockey pants from that team. These teams had different, disparate team colours......so I was quite 'colourful' on the ice as a kid. I would get one Hockey Xmas present a year form my parents.
Also no shin guards at first, just big general store catalogues...one from Eaton's for one leg, the other a Hudson's Bay catalogue for the other shin.
I played for two different community club teams. Early on I realized I was no Red Kelly or Wayne Gretzky.
