Closer to home Les, we have the Capilano Bridge

There is also a suspended walkway the follows the face of the cliff.

But do you have a structural engineer's report on your pizza oven, Mark? Building Control would have you in the UK without one sir, you'll have to pull it down and make good sir, we insist sir!
Mark is an arkytect, so he should be able to certify the structural integrity of the concrete and brick.

Kid's stuff! For a real buttock clencher, you simply must try the Mount Hua plankway!

Bert,

I recall back in the '70's or '80's the Canadian Forces also used to have some Chevy square look pickups that were built to Cdn. military specs and were one and a quarter ton, 4WD pickup trucks that were very popular when the military disposed of them via govt. auction. Hunters/ outdoorsmen liked them for their extra HD specs.

Also you being a military guy, would probably have a view on those VW litis the Cdn. Forces had for awhile. To, me being a layman they didn't look too impressive or safe for soldier use, but I was impressed when they were replaced by the Mercedes G wagon, military spec 4WD.

I believe the Iltis was actually built by Bombardier in Canada, it's a funny small looking vehicle.

And, if I'm correct, the G-Wagon is also an LUVW, but this time it's SMP designation (standard military pattern) - I would hazard a guess that not many off-the-shelf vehicles come with machine gun turrets...

Racer,

Well I can see that bridge has plenty of triangles and a circle to ensure it is strong....but geez...why would you want to go for a walk on that...unless you were some kind of dare devil and a big bet was at stake ! At best I might crawl around it on all fours and that's unlikely.

I'm sure there are a lot of adventuresome individuals who love to go for a stroll on that bridge and I can imagine the photos taken from it, would be incredible.

Yep...he's smiling now....but what happens if the rope or carabiner breaks !

My idea of having an exciting time is watching a Rambo or Dirty Harry movie rerun.

A friend of my son has an Iitis (surplus) and it is an odd vehicle.

The military Mercedes G Wagon...sans machine gun turret.....I would think will be a popular army surplus vehicle for off roaders...if it ever is sold in auction, after duty in the military.

All this talk of bridges and high routes. Here's one of my shots from a Via Ferrata I did a few years ago:

In fact, Rick Mercer's been on this one too. Bridge wasn't in so good repair at that time however (skip to around 5 minutes for the bridge)!

So you’ve crossed that bridge?

In a kilt, playing the pipes?

On telemark skis?

Double smash 8 oz. cheeseburgers for dinner.
Cooked on a cast iron griddle, on a Weber charcoal grill.

Note the tiny shoulder harness. If one of them falls off it will not be a pretty sight.

I'd rather eat a barbed wire sandwich backwards.
