Okay; I'm confused. "Ford guys, too, and Mark."
That could be interpreted two ways.

Sort of like welcome gentlemen...and Mark ?

With apologies to Mark.

It seems I'm doing an apology tour here, as of late.

As far as the Ford Explorer name, we Chevy guys got our words mixed up and called it the Ford Exploder. Apology to Ford guys, too, and Mark.
Oh, and even Ford blokes call it the "Exploder". I understand the earlier models were known to self-immolate.

Talking about logic; you shorten "pound" to "lb" because the Romans had a weight unit called libra, right? And you have another unit called "ounce" - because the Romans had one, too (a bit differently spelt in Latin, I believe). But an ounce is 1/16th of a pound, isn't it? Yet "ounce" quite literally means "a twelfth"
Try the names of the months: September October November December which mean seventh eighth ninth and tenth respectively.

In the 70s Dodge had the Ramcharger. It was their answer to the Chevy Blazer.
Then came the ad campaign "Dodge trucks are ram tough".
Now Ram is a brand. Racer's truck is a Dodge. As far as I'm concerned so is mine despite what it says on the title and the tailgate; which is under the couch in the den because of the bed camper. (The tailgate is under the couch, not the title.)
Reminds me of DEC's UNIX. We ran some Alpha servers (V6 and V67 mostly, but I think we got some V68s as well before leaving that ecosystem behind) with Compaq (later HP) TRU64 UNIX. You just had to scratch the surface to find references to Digital UNIX, and digging a little deeper it was all DEC OSF/1.

Truth is nothing, marketing is everything.

Yes, that is rather confusing.

Some people even get confused by our hybrid 12/24 hour day. 8 pm will be written as "20:00", and in formal contexts I might read that aloud as "klokka 20". But usually I'd say "klokka 8" - but I'd still write it as 20, even informally.

Not quite as confusing as Ethiopians, who tend to write "European time" - 8 pm - but read it aloud as "2 o'clock".

Aha! If it has no navigation, it's Sync 1. As previously stated, Sync 1 is/was rubbish. It was Ford's first version of Sync, did very little and worked with a funny version of Windoze. With the current version, Sync 3, multiple phones can connect wirelessly. I don't remember if Sync 2 connected via bluetooth or wired, but Sync 2 had navigation, so your nephew's car's version must be Sync 1.
It connected both wirelessly and by USB cable.

Oh, and he is our grandson, not nephew.

Sorry, grandson. Still, Sync 1 was the only one without navigation, so must have been Sync 1, which was Windows based. Sync 1 was a bit of a dog.

Decided no navigation was better than the Android Auto software built into the 2020 Subarus. Really it gets all its data from the connected phone and just puts it on the car screen. With one little quirk... When the phone loses cellular connection by entering for example a deep but narrow valley, GPS continues to work and uses the cached map. However, if connected to the car's screen when the cellular signal drops, the map tends to freeze and when cellular returns shortly later, the map starts to guess where you are - amusing when you are out in the country and going to be on the same road for some time. Not funny at all when in a city and need to make a number of turns in short sequence. The only fix is to pull over, cancel navigation on both phone and car screen, and start from scratch entering your destination. I purchased a stand alone GPS for the top of the dashboard.

In Ethiopia? They're sort of off-set by 6 hours. Midnight is at 6 o'clock and midday is at 6 o'clock. The same way as they used to in East Africa, too, at least along the coast. It makes sense when your days are consistently about 12 hours long - one 12 hour cycle for the daylight, and one for the night. But it can be rather confusing, even to Ethiopians.
