They did?

When?

After finishing the house I bought enough incandescent bulbs in every wattage and type needed for every fixture inside and outside, all rated at 130 volts, in sufficient quantities that I will never need to buy a lightbulb ever again. There are cases of them stored in the basement.

I suppose this makes me a wanted criminal now, in the same club as John Dillinger, Clyde Barrow, and Whitey Bulger.

The sale of most incandescent lights has been banned in the EU and US in the past couple of years, due to their high power consumption. No one will knock down your door and destroy your existing stock though

So long as nobody snitches! My lips are sealed.....

Mind you, led bulbs are great until one fails and you can’t remember how many lumens ya need and you’re sure the last one didn’t cost that much!!

LED bulbs produce a blue tinted light.

I’m partial to the warmer yellow tinted light from incandescent bulbs.

Plus, when they burn out sometimes they make a popping noise.

I like that.

I did the same thing. Bought a bunch of incandescent lamps years ago. My supply is starting to go down now, though.

Actually, led bulbs are available in warm tinted light too or I’d never have fitted them at home. Back at the start it was daylight style only but other colour temperatures are available. Or you can buy some which will vary to most of the colours of the rainbow: you too can live in a discotheque.

As StiffLegged said, they are available in any kind of white balance by now

The last time that happened to me the thing popped right over my head, showering me with sparkles and burning little holes into my teenage bedroom's carpet.

I did not like that.

You can buy LED-based replacement for compact fluorescent tubes - I bought and fitted several in a neighbour's house last year.

We have a mix of incandescent, Halogen (one!), and mostly LED lighting. The "old-style" ones are in fittings that rarely get switched on (and two very incandescent tubes in very "odd" French fittings that I bought decades ago and are also very rarely switched on).

Yes, as well as any other color temperature desired by the mfg.

Google is a wonderful thing, aint it?

One of the nicest things about led lighting is led tape – I fitted it under our kitchen wall units over the worktop and the light is effectively shadowless. It also looks really classy.

And you can’t read the label because after it failed you were left in the dark.
