A fair bit discomfort. Who would have thought that slicing through soft tissue and sawing and hacking away at bone would cause that?
Jim!

Welcome to the other side.

Good to have you back.

I learned self hypnosis to help ease the daily discomfort of a lifetime of spinal injuries, and reduce (and ultimately replace) the amount of narcotics I needed.

Try it out.

You have the perfect opportunity.

If I've learned anything in my 39 years, it's that it's ok to lie about your age.

When I was growing up. I lived near the Red River (in the USA known as the Red River of the North) . The area the Red flows through, both in the USA and Canada had a lot of activity in the past 200 years and beyond....American Bison, Plains Grizzly Bear, etc. ..... tall grass prairie of the northern plains, a number of First Nations, Trappers (French Canadian mostly..a lot from Quebec), hunters, early European settlers, etc.

So it was a 'happenin' area as we used to say in the 1960's. Anyways, I would every so often go down by the river bank and search (ineffectually) for items from history...arrowheads, early coinage...anything. I was not successful in finding anything, but I think that was more to do with my lack of archeological skills as a youngster. But hope always springs eternal....

That 1821 coin would be a fascinating find in North America. I'm guessing that the fact that it had a hole drilled in the centre of, makes me think that possibly it was attached to a necklace way back when ?

St. Louis and environs is an area rich in history. I think of the Lewis and Clark expedition that set off from there etc.
I guess you remember the 60s phrase “a happening”. I remember it being used but never really experienced the kind of event it referred to.

If we lived closer I'd grill you up some ribs for dinner.
You might bring bad ideas into his mind.

USA Major League Baseball has players from most, if not all, of those countries and more.
So our World Series games include players from around the world, making it a real world series.
So there!!

So basically the Olympic baseball is just a bunch of players from Major League Baseball playing against each other.
According to Wikipedia Cricket was meant to be in the 1896 Olympics but it wasn't held because of insufficient entries. When it was included in 1900 only two teams competed so it makes you wonder how many teams entered in 1896 . They are now talking about reinstating it in 2028 hopefully with more interest. There should be more than six teams anyway.

Some of our pro players play in basketball games, but our baseball players are minor leaguers.
MLB doesn't shut down for the games. NPA, Nippon Professional Baseball, shuts down so their top pro stars can play

The Olympics only last 16 days, can one Cricket match be played in that time?

I have no idea what the format will be. They could definitely play something like Twenty20 which is 20 overs per team.

Doesn't seem to bother the pig when that is done. Maybe you just need to boil the joint for a bit?

Seriously, my wife has 1 & 1/2 knee replacements. While I wouldn't wish the discomfort on anyone (or his/her spouse), I have to believe life is better than the alternative. Hang in there!

As I said to my doctor at my one year appointment.
He asked "So what to you think?"
" Not as good as I hoped, but much better than it was before."

Weren’t those the sort of event where if you remembered it you weren’t really there? (the beginnings of cognitive dissonance, in a nutshell )

Whatever you do, Jim, don’t watch videos of chainsawing trees, or forging heavy metal. And good to see ya back.

If you can remember the 60s you weren't there.

I'll keep that in mind. I probably shouldn't watch any of hunting shows for a while either.

Interesting. Taiwan used to play baseball at the games. I once did some work with their team doctor, related to his day job in a hospital.
