I wish it was possible.

The 3 liter 6 cylinder they offered that year in the Outback had chain driven cams. But swapping over to it would entail much more work than fixing this engine and endeavoring to be more vigilant with the timing belt going forward.
We did look at at the opposed 6 cylinder in the Outback, some years back.. We would of gone with the automatic transmission...believe it was a traditional automatic, rather then the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic . I like a manual transmission, although I haven't had one for 40 years, aside from motorcycles. My wife prefers an automatic and she wears the pants in the family.

Didn't know the Subaru 6 cylinder had chain drive camshafts, as opposed to belts.

I liked the idea of a six, AWD and wagon, but I didn't fit too well, couldn't stretch my legs, with my my bad hockey knee, but other than that I liked the Subie.

Think the opposed six was dropped eventually, and now the line is either opposed fours, turbo or not turbo.

I've been a fan of opposed (Boxer) engines, since the '60's. I had three VW Beetles...one 1200cc, a 1300cc and a 1500cc Boxer fours.

The Subaru line sort of reminds me of the older (PV544, 122/Amazon, 240, etc.) Volvo car line. Reputation for longevity, good at rallying...kind of sports sedans, sports wagons.

The damage to the pistons was minimal. The marks were made by the exhaust valves. The intake valves didn't hit the pistons that I can see, so they must have collided with the exhaust valves. I'll take a hard roll on one of my die grinders and smooth it up a bit, and move on.

On this one you can't even see where the valve contact was.

Just finished cutting the exhaust valve seats on the left head, then a final check of the fit and contact position.

One each of the original exhaust and intake valves.

That last pix looks like those valves are really swaying in a strong wind.

I said this before, you need one of these.

V8 snowblower 126 feet. - YouTube
I would like that.

Bet that big block Chevy V8 (7400cc ?) powering the snowblower, doesn't almost stall out in a heavy snowdrift, like my my 208cc single cylinder Tecumseh snowblower engine, does.

A bit early, yes. They are already showing Halloween ads on the TV here. Next week they will start showing Christmas ads.

The commercialization of holidays sucks.

Don't y'all celebrate All Hallow's Eve there?
Some people do others do not.

In our estate participation for trick and treating is indicated by what you do with your outside light at the time the T&Ting is done.

It is a controversial issue in the churches, many of which have a children’s event that does not involve the ghoulish stuff.

Interesting the things that one sees in carbon deposits on the head of an aluminium piston, eh?

Think of all the ink saved just by substituting I for Y in tyres. And then there are all those Us.
