What type of food products? I am pretty sure Tesco have the country of origin on the label. Maybe the ones that don't are from the UK but the beef I bought today was from Scotland.
I find the absence on quite a few things, usually imported from Asia. But also from Europe. But without labels there is no clarity.

We went to Kristiansand on the ferry from North Shields (Newcastle) many years ago in January. After seeing the temperatures were well below zero I bought my partner some thermal underwear. When we got there the temperature was actually warmer than the UK at just above zero.
We ate in our hotel in the evening and bought a very expensive bottle of Italian wine (expensive because it was Norway not because the wine was good) and when the waiter opened the bottle he tasted it himself so we didn't even get to drink the whole bottle . That is the only time in my life I have ever seen the waiter taste the wine.
The waiter was an alcoholic?

I thought it was odd when he drank it straight from the bottle

The southern coastal regions usually have mild winters with not too much snow. Of course, when they do get snow it's usually quite a lot in one go, and of the wet and heavy kind.

That must be a local thing. Perhaps he didn't trust you to make a sound judgement Then again, with the alcohol prices we enjoy here it might be the only way he could afford a drink

Makes a simply ghastly mess of the bowl too.
No merely tapping to remove the dottle, either.

The thing that amuses me with this thread is that we get a spammer making their first post on this forum in this thread from time to time. It's a thread frequented by several mods and by members who will report the spammer forthwith so it's literally the worst thread to post in if you're a spammer.
