They're $5.19 for 4, but I'm addicted to these chocolate eclairs.
A childhood friend's mom made excellent eclairs.
(not my pic)

When I was in elementary school and junior high, I loved Eccles Cakes and Jam Busters. There was a small bakery in the district I grew up in, run by a baker, originally from Britain. His bakery was on the way to school, and he knew what baked goods, kids with loose pocket change liked.

For me, back then, as a kid, a Eccles Cake or a Jam Buster was a treat, a treat to be celebrated, a treat to be savoured...slowly.

Although , I recall I didn't savour it for too long...usually two, big, messy bites and it was gone.

Eccles Cake:

Jam Buster:

Some of the large grocery chains out here, try to make a Jam Buster, but I don't know what kind of 'jam' they're using for filling. It doesn't taste like the old fashioned Jam Buster I loved....the grocery chains, I think use ersatz jam...as a filling.

Anyway, he discontinued his Dunkin' Donut runs after about 10 weeks. I'm not sure, why. It is a good product, but I'm guessing there probably wasn't enough profit in them, considering his time, effort and mileage he racked up, once a week.
Not to mention the smuggling of commodities across an international border and then smuggling his (meager) profits back the other way.

cheesy

:cheesy:
I never thought of that ! It's hard to imagine though...I mean isn't it...that a humble ' merican donut purveyor would attempt to sneak across an international border, with a few trays of donuts, and avoid customs duties, and all other fees associated . I would say that if he had to pay duties, fees, etc...over and above...it would eat into his profits.

Maybe he threw an old dog blanket over them or something.....while the donuts were piled up in the back of his Dodge Caravan minivan....or maybe he just piled his old mutt-ski (canine of unknown parentage)... particularly if it was one of them big, rangy dogs...over the donuts...as he fast talked the customs guy.

The fact that he came every early Saturday morning, for 10 weeks, was bound to alert the customs officials, that maybe something nefarious was going on.

Years ago, one week I went through a little border crossing at a North Dakota -Manitoba border. The next week I went through another small border crossing at the Manitoba-Minnesota border...and was I ever scrutinized, at the second border crossing.

This talk of donuts and stuff isn't doing Mark (or Mark's waistline) any favours, boys.
Knock it of for Mark's sake.

In other news;
The 2nd cricket test is on in Adelaide.
Australia's captain is not playing; he got to close to a Covid infected person!
Australia won the toss and batted first.
First wicket fell with only 4 runs on the board.
It is slow going; 1 for 38 after 21 overs (ie 126 balls bowled).

If people get addicted then they can charge anything they like and take in the loot. Till someone can make an adequate copy.

A wandering we will go, eh?
Because 25/1 celebrations are conducted in the evening the holiday is needed on 26/1.

This is similar to celebrating New Year on the last night of the old year thus requiring a holiday on the first day of the new year.

The Moon pie was conceived in 1917, long before NASA and any aspirations of traveling to space, or the moon.
