Really? Wow. I thought everybody at this point who had ever even heard of The Beatles knew about them. Pete Best was the Beatles drummer before Ringo. He got dumped literally just as they made it. Never did sit well with him apparently. He sued them many years later and won a few $$$, but basically he's a footnote in Beatles history.
Stuart left The Beatles shortly before they got famous to marry his gal pal Astrid. She was the woman who was supposedly responsible for the Beatles haircut and who also took a lot of the early Beatles photos. He tragically died of a brain aneurysm shortly thereafter. He was a very talented artist, but not really much of a musician. There's an exhibit of his work. He really was a good painter. I have a feeling that had he lived he might be well known today for his art work.
Pete Best I've never though much of him. I don't wonder that they canned him for Ringo. Having heard some of the early stuff I'm not impressed with him as a drummer, though to be fair Ringo was not the only one to drum for The Beatles, just their "official" drummer. He had his limitations too. Stuart, he's always haunted me for some reason. His story, his face. Next to John being killed that's the part of Beatles history that bothers me the most. That lost Beatle, there's just something about him that makes me want to remember him....
