Having been a dorm host at a Canadian Gaelic Arts school (for pipers, drummers and dancers) I have nothing but respect for the folks that learn to play them well, but I still don't understand why they want to do it in the first place.

I didn't have any friends, so I thought learning the bagpipes would make me some friends... apparently not...

I know. I do have the slight advantage of playing several other musical instruments, primarily clarinet, but still, it's different. I actually do have a practice chanter, but it's a cheap one without countersunk holes, which makes it about as easy to play as a piece of kindling.

You want to borrow a countersink and an electric drill.

How does making a noise that keeps strangers 150 meters minimum from your house help make friends?

Wait.

What?

A Texan, from Texas, who doesn't care about horses? Why that's just un-Texan!

Are you sure you are Texan?
If you have any doubts that he's a Texan, you haven't met many Texans.

My PC I learned to play on was a cheap no-brand non-countersunk holes variant, with ***** reeds as well.

Do yourself a favour and get a John Walsh long practice chanter and reeds, not very expensive (less than $100) but are nicer to play and sound way better.

So the bagpipes create both anger and tears? Very versatile! If Bert can hook up with this Kazoo player, WWIII is guaranteed!

My belt, that I always wear, is a think plain leather belt about 1.5" wide and has a big shiny brass buckle; oval, about 2.5" by 3". Made in Canada too, I got it at a thrift store for 50 cents.
