I have never paid to get my tax return filled out. Every tax return I have ever filed I filled out myself, always calculating and accounting for all deductions and exemptions myself.

Browsing the forum, eating beef jerky. Then this tread runs across my mind.

I know we're big bacon fans here, what is the consensus on beef jerky?
Jerky is great.

Biltong and dröewors are also pretty good,

The jerky I've tried has been too sweet to my taste. I much prefer the South African biltong - on it's own a good reason to visit the country in my insanely humble opinion. That, and dröewors. Mmmmmm, biltong and wors...

Gah, that made me hungry
Me too, and I just had dinner, string beans, new red potatoes, and salmon.

Mmmmmmmm . . . . . . . . salmon.

... Now I gotta find out what biltong is!

Jerky is right up there with bacon. I've been making it since the 1970's.

Looks tasty, Bob.

I got some biltong just before Christmas, and it is very good, but the size is disappointing. I expected it to be thicker, like your jerky.

You forgot the "I suppose"

Biltong comes in several forms, thick or thin, sliced or in sticks, bone dry or not quite so dry.

I believe jerky is dried and smoked using moderate heat? Biltong is air dried over a longer time period, using vinegar and salt as curing agents. And biltong is not smoked. It can often contain more fat as well.

The end result is that biltong tends to have a more meaty flavour, I think.

Nope.

I'm fairly confident that the stuff was good.

So much so I might get some more biltong again, and the dröewors for sure. I prefer it over the biltong.

Yeah, the biltong and dröewors have an almost wine like flavor, at least a couple of the varieties I tried listed raisins in the ingredients, and that, with the vinegar lend to that taste I think.

Definitely not sweet, salty and smoky like jerky.

So no-one gets me wrong.

The s/w to which I referred is ONLY filing s/w, not tax affairs management s/w.

They use a web interface where they ask questions about your circumstances, to determine which fields you need to enter, and then presents you with those fields and help buttons to explain what the instructions are. At the end there is a 'submit' button, which means to send your details through the system (not something more like what I saw on a sign in Albuquerque NM "submission grappling". That seemed like a rather strange thing to advertise on a sign facing the main road in town.)

Update.

Today it is sunny, a few thin whitish clouds in the sky and blue patches. And some golfers on the golf course.

Not many cars in the car park, many people seem to be staying away because it was 1/1/2020 a couple of days back.

Oh yeah, me too. But for a while there I was paying for Tax software that allowed me to fill out the forms on my computer and then file online. Now I use free software that does the same thing and it is certified by Revenue Canada. I just don't understand why our government does not do like other countries and supply that tax filing services online; free for all to use.

Grey and rainy here but it is supposed to cool down for the weekend and get sunny. Yay!

Sunny today. Walking home early I had to take off my coat and gloves, felt more like May than early January. Not that I miss the snow and the cold, but we're still stuck with the bloody darkness. Some snow would at least lighten things up a bit.

But hey, I have to go to the post office and pick my new little hociR

Beautiful day in southern England; a little bit of a cold wind but nothing to spoil that clear, pale-blue sky.
