Do Norwegians not want to claim him as their king too?
He makes very good tinned sardines.

I follow King Oscar seafood on FB. Recently they had a haiku contest and I was the first place winner.
Included in my prizes was a cap, cloth bag, coupons, and most importantly 3 tins of vintage 2017 aged sardines. Savoche won't have to translate that link.
Some folks had a plethora of entries, I had one corny one:
Sea please come to me
I long for the taste of you
A ring pull away

Congratulations Bob!

Nantucket, eh?

I know your kind . . . . .

There once was a girl from Nantucket.
Who crossed the sea in a bucket.
And when she got there
They asked for a fare
So, she pulled up her . . . . . .
Hair? Mare? Bear?

I'm no good at this rhyming stuff.

All this talk about King Oscar and his cans of vintage sardines. I could go for a can of tinned oysters. On top of Ritz crackers. Washing it all down with a Molson's Canadian ..lager...beer.

It is an odd situation. I used to eat tinned oysters , on Ritz, with a nice slice of cheese, possibly an olive.....and a beer or two. I haven't done that for almost 30 years, but reading all these posts is ever drawing me back to canned seafood.

I used to watch late night movies on Saturdays, after the rest of the family had hit the sack.

There I was, just me and the oysters.

I eventually 'graduated' to Cheezies, then eventually a bag (family size) of salted chips, then Pringles round tin of chips, then popcorn, till I cracked a tooth, then eventually salt reduced smaller bag of chips and a zero alcohol beer.

Where do I go from here ?

Yeah, not so much of all the pillaging and burning villages, and raping the women.

We're not too fond of having a king forced upon us by outsiders.
Had he been good at making bacon, though...

Yeah, it all went down the drain when the first mental coach washed up on our shores to tell us how to deal with our fears and why we don't feel good enough

There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
But his daughter, named Nan,
Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.
