Amazon used to sell crocodile biltong, but it's no longer available. Not that it matters, because they refuse to send anything but books to Norway anyway. I have no idea why. They let me put stuff in the cart, even telling me shipping will be free, but at checkout time they've decided that this item can't be shipped to that destination. And, of course, if they do ship (books only) there's always a shipping fee, usually considerably higher than the value of what you want to buy.

Oh, sorry, that's not true. They still haven't charged for shipping of ebooks

I agree, it's a pretty snake. And no trouble at all, really. You can see them from time to time, but I've never been bitten. My dog was once, but other than sneezing and scratching his nose for a few seconds it didn't have any lasting effects on him. Maybe it taught him not to sniff snakes

Right, snakes. We have one venomous kind, the common European viper. The bite isn't much more painful than a bee sting, so nothing to fear unless you're allergic. Gramps got bitten a lot. Once when coming back from working in the woods he complained over an itchy back, and when he pulled off his shirt a viper fell out
Here in Australia we also have one species of poisonous snake that won’t kill you, and dozens that will!
The red belly black snake bite is a bit worse than a bee sting though, typically your leg will blow up like a balloon and you wish you will die!

Of course, in Australia, there's so many snakes that, by the time they got round to name the red belly black snake they had run out of other names so they went: "Oh well, it's got a red belly and it's otherwise black, so we'll call it the red belly black snake."

At least its easy to identify if it bites you, you just have to pick it up and see what colour its belly is!

Naturalist: Look! A bipedal yellow belly black heart snake!
Specimen: No, no, I'm a lawyer!
Naturalist: Yes.

This young man, Bobby, is 3 years old today and on a soccer team.
He has unlimited energy, so it's a good fit.

I've been doing some thinking as of late. A new experience for me, I know.

This time around, is about the title of this thread..... "why I won't buy a k3 (Warning: Satire Thread) "

Now that Pentax has brought out the new Pentax K3, but in the latest iteration....the K3 lll....will anyone contributing to this thread....actually change their mind and buy a new K3 (lll) ?

Just be careful with that thinking stuff Les, don't want to overwork that noggin of yours....

Of course not, for a good reason, as mentioned in this famous song...Abba - Money, Money, Money

I am still quite happy with the iteration of my unmentionable camera. I upgraded at the time because 1) the sensor in the MKII was head and shoulders above the K7 and 2) someone in Toronto had purchased the K1 and was selling his MKII for a great price.

At this point, the only thing that would get me to sway in the direction of the MKIII would be the same two conditions as above. That new sensor is, once again, head and shoulders above the MKII but as ABBA (and Bob some # I can't keep track of) so succinctly reminds me, it's a lot of money to replace a camera I thoroughly enjoy.

When it comes to the top smells of food, I don't think there is anything quite as nice as the smell of bacon cooking over the campfire and coffee brewing...both in the great outdoors.

Turkey roasting is also in this bracket, but in the house. CharlieLac would probably add the smell of fresh bread and I would agree.

Odd thing is that in my last years of working, the building I worked out of was right next to a Wonder Bread factory bakery. In my 8 years working next door to this large factory bakery, I never once smelled the lovely aroma that I associate with baking bread . Don't know why, or maybe I do.....
It wasn't Wonder but a large local bakery had a baking facility down along the side of the highway in Ottawa. Back then, I lived in the east end and worked in the west. I was quite young then and never woke until I really really had to so it was a quick shower, jump in the car, and fight traffic; no breakfast. Of course the traffic would be jammed solid near the bakery so I would have to sit in stuck in misery smelling the wonderful aromas of baking bread.

Autumn, in this climate, is the most beautiful time of year. I like the change of seasons. I welcome all 4 of them, but none more so than Autumn. It brings with it a certain peace and tranquility.
Spring here for me is a close second for about two weeks, the two weeks where blooming buds just start to explode with muted and sometimes brilliant colour, but before the ravenous hoards of biting, chewing, blood sucking atrocities take to the air.
