We have something like that here too. Called the Raurimu Spiral. Clever engineering.

The wheels I ordered several months ago finally arrived.

So now I can mount the tires I bought last winter.

Even branded in the tread root. So when they get worn down to the limit they will be leaving little BF Goodrich logos everywhere.

Can't wait to get them mounted and on the car.
Nice wheels, remind me of the old mini light wheels of the past. Those tires look like they have high performance specs. Are they for a Z ?

You worked for DEC? Me too, 1981 till 1999. Started in Manufacturing, then Ed Services, Field Service, MIS and finally Outsourcing Management Services.
I was there from 1988 to 1990 until I was successful in winning a place in DEC's first ever retrenchment program. The package was very generous and I did a lot of skiing that year. I forget the name of the division, but we were the guys who developed software for customers.

They are ZR rated. Tires with a ZR designation are rated for speed in excess of 186 miles an hour.

They are also summer performance only, not suitable for use in wet or winter conditions.

They are for any car that they would be a suitable size and fit for.

These will be going on my brown 72 Z.

The 240Z came with a 4.5x14” wheel, I think the tires were a 175 series. I’m not concerned about OEM correctness, and want as much tire as I can squeeze into the wheel opening. Also, 14” tires are very limited for size and performance options these days.

The 225-15 tires will actually be a smaller overall diameter than the original setup, so the speedometer will read higher than it should.

Interesting. The map view reminded me of a railroad grade in California, on Tehachapi. It passed through several tunnels, and has a circular section that crosses over itself, through a tunnel. The Tehachapi Loop. I've been there, it is impressive to see, a marvel of civil engineering.
You can look up Måbødalen on Google Earth, the bit just west of Vøringsfossen if you want to get a better impression of the road in the terrain.

Yep, civil engineering mixed with sufficient funding can create wonders. Girls and boys with big and expensive toys

Not quite as spectacular, but there's also a roundabout/traffic circle in one of the tunnels further west on the same road.

Too bad, or you could leave those small Goodrich stamps in the snow.

...or would that be hcirdooG?

Yes, that's right, you started it; it's your own fault!

What did I miss? Apart from the Teletubbies and everybody's favourite, Barney? And old Canadian TV shows. And the old farts lineup. And some heavy duty fire pits and boiled donuts. And some car talk, aeroplane talk, and protein enriched raspberries. And corn, boiled or otherwise. And slow detours and Bob juggling with only two balls. Some trailer talk, musings over the short comings of grocery stores, coleslaw - and the odd digression.

Still 10 pages to go, so I'll have a break now
The digressions add up

The Romans took a simpler approach - a Roman road in the UK Lake District just goes up the hill from Langdale to the fort atop a pass. Known as Wrynose Pass, it’s about 5 miles from Little Langdale at often 1 in 4 uphill (25% incline) on a single track with a sprinkling of twisty bits. Cyclists daft enough to try pedalling this discover the terrific view down to Eskdale is not available unless you do the last bit, which is Hardknott Pass. It’s fairly short, much twistier and averages 1 in 3 (33%). Uphill.

Someone I know was entertaining a guest around the roads of the district in the guest’s hot hatchback and directed guest this way. Having charged up Wrynose with much revving and whooping, the guest was then pointed towards Hardknott which elicited a cocky grin and more revving etc. At the top of this pass his car boiled over in clouds of steam and the guest directed a look towards his host of fire and brimstone!

Cyclists do try these routes: care for a crack at it, Mark?
