# 4...when you get old, like yours truly...it doesn't take much to be busy. ....I'm old and gray and just don't have the energy I had, when I was a young feller.

Speaking of lack of energy . . . . . .

Been chipping away at the Goon. Got the engine out, disassembled and scattered about the shop, took 16 bent valves out of the heads, assessed the situation, formulated a plan, ordered parts and now I am moving towards a conclusion, albeit only just barely.

Gonna clean everything up, recut the exhaust valve seats, as there is some pitting, check the intake seats, fit 16 new valves and reassemble the heads.

Next I will assemble the heads to the bottom end and put it all back in the car.

I have a new clutch coming and will remove the flywheel and grind the friction surface on my brake lathe. Also got all the cooling system hoses, since the ones on the car are 16 year old originals. New water pump and thermostat.

Attached are quick iPhone shots of the heads. The cleaner of the two is the left one, after a bit of scrubbing with Simple Green and Scotchbrite. I also did a quick cut of the forward exhaust valve seat to see what lies ahead.

Hey Racer, can you do all that for ME when I get much older? I might be good for another 100 years!

I probably have missed something over the past while, but as you indicate, you had 16 bent valves....how did the pistons fare, after getting a rat-tat-a-tat from the valves ?
