If I know anything about Racer, that bacon lasted moments away from the frying pan! It would have met the same fate here…

Sheep?

No.

In the background, upper left, is one of the horseshoe pits.

In the central foreground is a concrete bench, with a couple of thing son it, covered in snow, to the left of that is a cedar shrub I've been training as bonsai.

But sheep?

No, there are no sheep here, we don't have any livestock or farm animals.

Only wildlife, deer, bobcat, cougar, bear, coyote, hawks, owls, eagles and osprey.

And rabbits.

Lots of rabbits.
The snow covered bushes sorta resemble sheep ;-)

Wasn't the first time I had cooked, breakfast or otherwise.

And it was consumed shortly after the exposure was made.

With eggs, over easy, hash browns, and English muffin, toasted with butter and honey.

And coffee.

Rod Stewart has been a favourite of mine. I remember the first song , to my memory...Maggie May. Believe it came out around 1971. I was going to U. at the time and had a beat up, old '62 Volvo PV544s, radio delete. But I had a large, transistor radio...a Mitsubishi am/fm that I would put in the passenger seat if alone.

If I had a traveling companion...invariably my girlfriend at the time ....whose name was not Maggie May...then the Mitsu would be in the back seat.

Well sometimes. On occasion my GF would be in the back seat. Invariably I would be there too.

The Mitsu would then be in the front seat. Funny how these things work.

But, enough of that. I'm digressing.

Maggie May was played a lot on the R & R stations then in 1971...I loved it.

Another popular song of the period was American Pie, by Don McLean. Actually saw him do his one man concert at an old Vaudeville theatre in town, back in around '79 or so. He was/is a wonderful singer-musician.

I've always been a Rod Stewart fan.
When Maggie May first hit the charts my buddy and I loved the song, we both pictured him as a macho looking dude with that gruff voice of his.
My buddy bought his album, Every Picture Tells a Story and called me to say "You're not going to believe what this guy looks like."

Back in the 70s I remember an English singer sang a song about a soccer team. I think it was Birmingham, and one of the lines was “you’re in my heart, you’re in my soul”. I remember seeing it for a while on a Saturday afternoon music TV show that had interviews with whoever was touring Australia, such as Status Quo, Slade, ABBA, etc.

Any idea who was singing about the soccer team. He was an established name in the music business.
The singer you seek is actually my wife's all time favourite artist (one of mine too for that matter) and that is Sir Rod Stewart! He claimed in interviews that the lyrics are a bit mixed up and refer to several women in his life (some of them at the same time as the song was written while he was having one of his numerous affairs) but the final verse contains references to Rod's two favourite Scottish soccer teams, Dundee United and Celtic F.C. Rod was a very good soccer player and played for several youth/school teams and even tried out for a professional club in his late teens. He could have been a pro soccer player but thankfully music won out and we have all benefited from that over the years.

Rod Stewart is one of those performers where the further back you go in his career the better he was. Probably best to ignore many of his recent albums.

Me too. For me, Tonight's the Night is the one that I think of first.

I find this to be more the case for Sir George Ivan Morrison than Rod.
Loved most of Van Morrison's earlier stuff, but only some of his later stuff.

I agree.

The early years with Long John Baldry and the All Stars, followed by a period with the Jeff Beck Group were good.

When Steve Mariott left the Small Faces for Humble Pie (another awesome group) and Stewart joined as singer, that was a really good period.

And his first few albums, Every Picture Tells A Story, and Never A Dull Moment were good.

Then he fell into the ballads and disco stuff (yawn).

I lost interest about then.
