I like the Barracuda....the Mopar one.

Particularly the either '68 or '69 with the 340 . I liked this '67-'69 generation ( #2) very much. Great fastback design.

I recall when the 340 V8 first came out...what a wild small block V8 that was. Under rated at 275 hp (single 4 barrel), had a great exhaust note and a lot of punch.

Back in the 1970's two buddies, had 340's. One a Duster, the other a '69 Dart GT-S...with torqueflite and a 3.91 rear axle ratio. This one (GT-S) was good for the high 13's in the 1/4 mile.....exceptional back then.

Looking at that Barracuda badge, you provided a photo of....reminded me of the wet flies I used to buy at a local tackle shop for pike fishing. I used to buy wet flies (red and white) that were tied for salt water Barracudas. They were pretty long and worked quite well for good sized pike.

I still have my English made Hardy fly reel, and I used fly line and a fly rod that was built for Muskies.

Never caught a Muskie, although I did try my luck in the Lake of the Woods.

I was prepared !

I also recall the first Barracuda that came out, think it was in '64. A fastback, with a lot of glass, basically a modified Valiant. The optional engine was the 273 cube V8, with 235 hp. Doesn't sound like much, but it was a good, little performer.

I was about 15, cycling near the university, where there was a long two lane road, bordered by tall trees...very French, very symmetrical. I recall seeing either a '64 or '65 Formula S Barracuda, starting from a dead stop down this road, which was empty of other vehicles at the time. Being a car crazy teenager, I think it obvious to the driver that I was salivating over his Barracuda Formula S.

He gave me a treat.

He revved it up (single exhaust-square pipe) , popped the clutch and ran it through the gears (4 speed) for my edification. What a visual and aural delight for me...the rear end of a rapidly disappearing Mopar down a lonely, tree lined road...engine note rising to each shift..... and then repeating the process with the next gear.

Oh, yeah, Lake 22! <heart emoji> Between Scouts and family trips, I probably went up there a couple of dozen times over the years. We also hiked up to Heather Lake, the next cirque over, a lot. We thought it was a grand time one trip (us kids and Dad) going up to Heather Lake, elevation ~2400 ft, then we bushwacked up and over the ridge (elev ~3250 ft) between and down into Lake 22 at ~2420 ft. That 850 foot elevation gain and drop was a hell of a work out for a bunch of kids. Oh, and it was in January I think, so plenty of snow to deal with. Soggy, sloppy, thick, heavy snow that we normally get in the coastal regions around here.

I've done very few custom changes on my vehicles...and never added fake eyelashes to the headlights.

Oh, and snowflakes as big as Baltimore.

Well we're girding our loins for an incoming prairie blizzard.

BTW, at my age it hurts when I gird my lions...I'm afraid I may do myself a mischief.

Environment Canada says that :

" Heavy snow, strong winds and blowing snow for southern Manitoba beginning late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.

A Colorado low will move towards Minnesota Tuesday night bringing a heavy swath of snow from southeastern Saskatchewan through most of southern Manitoba. The axis of heaviest snow looks to remain through North Dakota but large accumulations are still expected in southern Manitoba, notably near the international border. Storm-total snowfall accumulations near the US border may approach 60 cm. North of this region, general storm-total accumulations of 20 to 40+ cm are possible, including for the city of Winnipeg.

As the low moves towards eastern Minnesota on Wednesday, strong northerly winds will develop over the region. Winds of 60 to 70 km/h are likely, with the strongest winds being in the Red River Valley with gusts up to 80 km/h at times Wednesday night into Thursday.

These strong winds, combined with the heavy snow, will produce widespread reductions in visibility. Blowing snow is possible Wednesday but is more likely Wednesday night through Thursday as temperatures cool somewhat. These conditions will likely result in a deterioration of travel conditions.

Conditions should begin to improve by Friday as the winds taper off and the heaviest snow moves into northern Ontario.

Confidence regarding the track of this Colorado low is slowly improving but remains uncertain. Deviation in the track could lead to significant changes in the projected storm-total accumulations, precipitation type (rain/snow/ice pellets) and wind speeds over the region.

Please consult your local forecasts as the event draws closer for updates, including any watches or warnings that may be issued.
.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. "

Latest news from another Canadian weather station computer models...say we may get more snow, somewhere between 30 cms (12 inches) to 80 cms (around 31.5 inches of the white stuff), along with fierce winds, etc. Think parts of the SE Saskatchewan, the Dakotas, Northern Minnesota, NW Ontario will get this too. This could be bad for flooding in the Red River Valley, which includes parts of North Dakota, Northern Minnesota and southern Manitoba. Hope the Red River doesn't become the Red Sea.

I just want the winter to go away. Although I must say, I'm glad we have a bigger, 4WD SUV, with this past and current and probably future winter this year. We still have to get out and get stuff, although we have planned to get it...before the storm hits.

However...you never know...sometimes predicted winter storms dissipate...or to use the meteorological term ...just fizzle out.

After my big day yesterday doing traffic management set-up and tear-down for our Mountain Duathlon race, I'm hurting everywhere, not just in my loins.

I remember when I was a teenager. If I hurt myself, strained a muscle here and there...scraped a knee...it all got better pretty quickly. With each passing decade...my body repairing itself, seemed to take longer, and now being a septuagenarian...well...it seems to take almost forever.

Fortunately, I suppose, I have far less energy now, that I did when I was a teenager...so tend not to do all the things I did...way back when.

Very true. Almost forever is still a damn sight better than almost fornever.
